Thought it might be useful to post fault codes / diagnosis (from Patrick - GAP) from my FFRR

Faults Stored 25/11/12:

1.“5C Passenger Door Central Locking Mechanism Short Circuit (no issues obvious, all works as it should)“
Leave it alone since there is no issue.

2. “3505 Unknown (Engine)
Glow plug relay failure - glow relay defective. This one should be investigated if your engine is hard to start when cold.

3. “0404 Unknown (Engine)
Extended fault path exhaust gas recirculation governor deviation - negative deviation. EGR blanked? No?

4. “8A Air Suspension System Can Error (no issues I am aware of)”
CAN errors are normal, ignore them if there is no issues with the system.

5. 41 Park Heater Message Disturbance (see also 0402 below)
0402 FBH Metering Pump Short Circuit to Ground (attempted setting Park Heating, FBH seems to have stopped working now) Included in this e-mail is the wiring diagram of the FBH. Your problem is related to your fuel pump, the output that controls it or the wring. The first thing to verify is the connection between the pump and the FBH itself (C0926-6 and C0920-1). Using a millimeter or asking a mechanic to do so, verify the continuity between the 2 points and if the pump is powered when the FBH is active. You may need to clear faults of the FBH before trying to start it.

6. BD EBV Function Fault Received from ABS ECU (this came straight back after clearing all faults).
We’ve seen this fault on other vehicles also. It may disappear after a while (when a clear fault is done of course). Check your ABS ECU’s fault to see if there is something in there, if not, leave it alone.

7. “BF Instrument Pack Checksum Incorrect (?)”
This error will not affect the functioning of the IPC and can be left alone. Did you check the fault before and it wasn’t there or did it appear after a diagnostic session with a T4? This can sometimes happen when a configuration is changed inside the IPC. To solve this, you can change a configuration (for example, Park Heating) in the IPC Car Config function. Come back to us with the results if you decide to try.

8. 57 Air Suspension active/inactive (?)
This will appear when the suspension has become inactive at one time or another. If everything is sound about your EAS, clear it and leave it alone.

9. 8E and 8F Right/left Side Marker defective (works fine, are these little ones on the wing or the sidelights? I do have LEDs in the sidelights)
Your LED’s are causing these faults. The LCM thinks the lights are burned out since the current draw is significantly lower than with incandescent lights.

10. 23-Key 2 random code tolerance increased (no problems with my only key)
We’ve seen many RR with this errors including our 2005, nothing to worry about.

11. “Transfer Box Current Range BET_N_H (what does this mean?)”
This is the live value of the transfer box gear or range selection. BT_N_H = between neutral and high range. If you move the vehicle, it should change to high range. It can be in between when the vehicle is not moving and a change is done. Didn't change when I moved the car?

Ran fault reading again today 02/12/12

Faults 1,2,3,5,6,7,9 & 10 were there again, but two exciting new ones Smile

LCM 0093 & 0094

OK, activated the tool........

......trying to enable park heat, done it in 2 places, and from reading this thread, need to do an instrument cluster reset.

How can you do this via the hidden menu ? Don't realy want to disconnect battery.

Is there a fuse ?

I see this on the net ;

Instrument Cluster Tests

Ignition key must be “off”.
• Press and hold the Check Control button in the instrument cluster (RIGHT button), and turn the ignition key to the first position (KLR).
* You will first see "Check Control OK", some seconds later you will see "Test Nr.01"
* Push the left button on the instrument cluster to see the car's identification number. Add the 5 digits (not 6) together and write down that number, you will need it for unlocking all the functions. Example: A123457 will lead to 2+3+4+5+7 = 21
* Push the right button until you see "Test Nr.19"
* Push left button until you see the number that is equal to the one you calculated above
* Push right button again

1. Display Car's identification number, HW/SW version, construction date
2. instrument cluster self test. Will light up all lights and run all guages
3. Current consumption (liters/hour)
4. Average consumption (liters/100 km)
5. Current range
6. Remaining fuel in tank. Three sets of numbers: A/B/C. C=total amount.
7. Engine RPM / Coolant Temp (C)
8. Current Speed (kph)
9. System voltage at Term. "R" (Battery Voltage)
10. Country/Language (UK, US, Spa, Ger, Jap, etc.)
11. Units am/pm
12. Average Speed
13. ETA
14. Date of Software Mask
15. Production Diagnosis
16. ""
17. Display Vehicle Specific Data
18. Alarm Changeover (cont. vs. intermittent OBC chime)
19. Lock/Unlock
20. Correction factor for fuel consumption (nicht ändern!)
21. Reset all defect codes

I must have missed that step too. Did a change in two places and read I might have to wait a week for things to appear. Been waiting months. Now I find there is a cluster reset to do too. This needs to go in the manual Mr Mfr Wink .

Yes Mr. 90, we are working on it. Have you ever written a book? Wink Laughing

Test Nr. 21 is 'Reset'. I've seen the 'Reset all defect codes' on the net here and there too - it ain't so. Otherwise people wouldn't be touching battery terminals, etc (which doesn't work for clearing faults either, BTW) or having to buy diagnostic tools Cool . 'Reset' is a cluster reset. The cluster acts as a gateway between the iBus where the nav screen lives and Kbus where the FBH is, so you need to make sure the changes have taken effect just as you would with a PC that you've made sw changes to. Do a Nr. 21 - and then please let us know if all is good.

Joe, I saw that you mentioned in another thread that you have a prob with your EAS that won't go away (RF IIRC?). Can you describe more closely?

I was wondering who Brittany was... Laughing

Cliffy, Britpart will not give you a price. They are only wholesalers and the dealers are left to make their own prices. They will only give you an address to a dealer local to you.

If you are looking for the best price, I suggest you google IIDTool + Price. You'll get a couple of hits to online dealers on the first page. One of them, who sells LR Parts Wink Wink, has the best prices that I know of.

We are not supposed to recommend specific Britpart resellers either due to favoritism, so I can't do better than that. Sorry.

There have also been price discussions here on the board. Maybe someone can chime in...

So just to confirm (re Park Heat) we use the IIDtool in two places (OTTOMH I can't remember where), then do the No. 21 Reset, and hopefully Park Heat will show up?

Regarding my EAS issue, I have been in touch with Patrick about it from the beginning, who has been very helpful, but not had the chance or inclination to play with the setup since then. Seems that (and I had the problem with the All Comms too) my front left won't respond to individual height changes, no matter what I throw at it. If I run the set front heights, both will go up and down, but the front left always stays @ 10-15mm lower than the front right. I have tried over-compensating to no avail. IIUC it is the built in EAS computer gremlins that are the problem, or my front left height adjuster (despite no faults) requires replacing. .

Well wait no more Mr 90 !!

I've just enabled Park Heat !!!

On the main menu it still says Aux Ventilation, but if you select it, I now have Aux Heat and then Aux Vent.

Now am I brave enough to try it ?

May do two 9's on my phone, then I'll only have to do another one for the Fire Brigade !!

If I remember right Joe, Park Heat needs to be set to active / enabled under the Fuel Burning Heater and the Instrument Pack section, on the IID Tool.

Small issue

Went to use my IID tool today and it isn't working as it did last time. I originally plugged it in to see if I could reset the INSPECTION light that is on when the ignition is first turned on. I couldn't find anything that would do this, so I thought I'd see what faults had developed in the last couple of months. Turns out I couldn't see most of the ECU's including the engine, gearbox, etc. tried to do a fault reset - RESET ALL and it goes through to 10, then comes up with UPDATE FAIL, then exits the tool.

Tried a few times and it always does the same thing - any ideas - including how to reset the INSPECTION lamp? I have also tried to do this using the buttons on the dash, but no luck with that either.

Cheers - Gav

Hi Gav,
Not seeing most of the ECUs is usually when you try to use the IIDTool in Accy position. Numerous ECUs, such as the engine's are 'asleep' so they are not seen.

You have an 03, the SIR is done via the dash buttons - not a diagnostic tool. Only the later RRs do this via a diagnostic system and they can't have it done via the dash buttons. So count yourself better off. Laughing
