...and i notice that other pics of this battery when searching under that LR part number have 'Exide' on them so i wonder what the difference is apart ...

All sorted this morning with the advice above put into action.

Only lost a few drops of coolant when I freed the pipe from the expansion tank and new one now up and running etc.

OK thanks again.

I'm assuming as per the earlier post I'll need to replace the missing spring clip in order to release the fitting so will give it a go once they've arrived tomorrow.

Would taking the air filter box out help you to get easier access?.
It is a fairly easy job and frees up a big space.
(I have only removed the passenger side one, but I think the drivers is similar. ...

You could try hosing down the side of the engine to see if you can wash the clip out. :thumbsup:Yes tried that but no luck unfortunately.
