The ‘Noise on actuator signal’ error generally means that the potentiometer in the transfer box shift motor is producing an intermittent signal.

The GM 5L40-E transmission has 3 shift solenoids:
• 1-2 shift (A)
• 2-3 shift (B)
• 4-5 shift (C)
but there is no shift solenoid for the 3-4 shift.

I believe it can be quite tricky to get the tc back in correctly...
It’s critical that the slots in the torque converter impeller drive tube engage with the drive dogs on the oil pump gear

I have had a quick Look at the oil level check procedure, it seems to suggest that I will need all four wheels off the ground, so drive can be engaged. Does that sound correct?
