That part number appears to be for the fuel filter itself. I was looking to replace the screw in knurled metal sensor cap for the bottom

The part number I have (based on a recent purchase) is LR072610.
A Google search suggests that this is correct.

The sensor must be able to rotate within the knurled cap.

You mention that the water sensor connector did not screw in quite flush when fitted to the replacement LR filter.
Is it possible that it might have been cross-threaded d'y think ?
