I was told once by local LR Service Dept they are supposed to have an expected life span of 15000hrs??? - im not sure how correct this information might be

^^^ Sorry to hear that Simon. As I mentioned above - its most likely the flickering lights will be caused by your headlamp ballast resistor packs failing and not the actual bulbs themselves.

No flickering (touch wood) and I'm going to hold off replacing the bulbs for the moment - but thanks for the offer. |

VV ,they do seem to do that, i replaced mine with cheapo 6000k bulbs of ebay and the difference was dramatic...much brighter and whiter.. |

The bulbs drop in output and go pink when they fail - the ballast apparently affects the shutter that sits over the bulb and drops when you select high beam.

You can get both the ballast and the ignitors seprately.
