Personally I prefer the OEM look, and that's nothing to do with what I do for a living.

In fairness, when I joined Land Rover, the Specialist Vehicles Dept would do virtually anything for a client, whether it was a cocktail cabinet or a bespoke colour scheme. In fairness the likes of Khan, Overfinch, Revere etc are just stepping in where this department left off.

We are still able to offer a pallet of special paint schemes and interior colourways via the factory, but I can understand to an extent that those wanting a little more of an individual look may go to these companies.

Again, I prefer OEM, perhaps I need to live a little, but for me I think it is truer to how the car was originally intended to be.

2011 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Java Black

Welcome Martin and fair play for stepping into the lions den.

Wise move to be fair. I reckon if you wanted to you could do a bomb here moving on all the new/unused parts you must have.

I've a mate who likes his FFRR's more shiny than standard (current one has that exterior design pack on) and he was talking about overfinch for his next one, so I'll certainly make sure he looks at you guys too.

Guys, I hate to spoil the party, but I strongly suspect that Kahn have a strong business model which has long included re-selling the components removed. Their not going to be chucking away shed loads of standard bumpers and 20 inch wheels are they? Martin has never suggested they do, only that he may have a few bits to move on!

With e-bay this sort of thing is childs play, even the main dealers manage to do it. We can get good deals as a result, hence we can buy new take off wheels for around £800 a set, which would probably cost £3k as a factory option. You'll find plenty of as new bumpers on the bay too.

IF the company did want a good route to re-cycle any of these components, they probably wouldn't be minded to sponsor a forum full of people who make no secret of despising their work, on the whole.

But just my two penn'orth, maybe they have a warehouse full of nearly new stuff and are keen to give Martin a lovely sponsorship deal so they can sell it to us for pennies! Thumbs Up Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

Picking up on what James has said, it's about personal preference as much as anything else. 30 years ago I'd have been loving the Kahn/Overfinch look, but today I much prefer a more understated look (OEM). That's just me. There are parts of what Kahn do that do look good, that make the FFRR look more sporty/aggressive and "on the road", but the front end to me makes it look like a Nissan Cube.

I know that just by having mudflaps and side steps I am compromising the cars off road ability, but I am unlikely to go "that" offroad, whilst folks who buy a Kahn probably won't off road at all and are looking for a street car. Each to their own, and the mark of a man is being able to accept that.

I'm still driving around with a £4 Halfords steering wheel cover on my FFRR, I like it, its not a great fit but I like it. I recently polled on a thread about Light Guards - I think I would like them, but sense I would regret fitting them for some unknown reason! Chrome door handles? - I like the idea but know the bling might detract from the original look. Colour coded wing mirrors? - really want to do this but will it look naff?

I own a 50 year old Mg Midget Mk1 and the MG "purists" would scoff at me choosing a non original paint colour or interior, but it's my car so I will do as I see fit, tastefully.

I think that's it - is it tastefully done, does it "fit" with the overall flavour of an FFRR? .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

Welcome Martin, you are guranteed one thing here, and thats a full honest view.......lol

Anyway I think it would be interesting to get a view of peoples age versus taste needs versus budget and see where that takes you.

Personally I'd not been that into the khan stuff but recently it has got less bling and more closer to Overfinch design levels but the interiors have always interested me.

I don't like chrome or lurid colours but the blue isn't bad but best in dark colours for me.

I'm 37, like subtely in a RR as I have a 911 to be blingier in I guess, and my budget isn't massive for my current RR but future cars might be more. I've spent over 30k in extras in a car once so I like extras but it's difficult to justify in a older 2nd hand vehicle where there is no re-coup.

I also think that the rears are poorly finished off whereas Overfimch tends to be a bit cleaner boxed off. I think oval pipes are nasty and square stuff works as the cars more boxier.

I have two footballers in my street and one is more khan and the other is overfinch and the overfinch blows the other away from the outside.

Anyway nice for coming on and taking the blows and if you sponsor then I guess you'll be good to go for offering parts and probably bringing customers!! all smug in my new plug!
