United Kingdom 2019 Range Rover Autobiography 2.0 PHEV Loire Blue

To try to answer the original question of "why don't you like us?" rather than beg nearly new parts, I'll stick in my ha'penny worth.

I actually quite like some things Kahn do but two things put me off:
1. Offroad capability.
Now I'm not some green lane , winch on the front bumper, "let's offroad" nutter but I do bumble around fields and moors when shooting. That is one of the key roles the my Rangie has to perform and deep spoilers, side skirts and rear valances do not work offroad. 22" wheels move the equation further from the original car's ability with the added downside of ruining the ride. I don't mind changing the look of the car but making it worse at what it does doesn't make sense to me. However, to the owner who will never venture further off tarmac then the car park at the local fete, why not?
2. Subtlety
I like alterations to be subtle and aesthetic. Here, I think that Kahn are probably better than a number of other aftermarket firms (I quite like some of the things Kahn offers on Astons - I have a DBS). However, I think the clients don't share my views and seem to compete on how many tacky logos can be crammed into a single vehicle and how many bits of kit they can stick on. In my view, less is more.

What might I be interested in? Leather dash. Leather door cards (no logos). Care to quote?

Oh, and cheap OE wheels, please...

Oh no - I think that blue RS600 looks gorgeous Confused

My last FFRR was an Overfinch & I thought I'd grown out of it with the current one being standard, but that does look nice.....

For me there's a brand image issue - I know there is nothing to separate Overfinch & Khan these days and in fact Kahn probably do it better, but I grew up with Overfinch being the ulimate RR and Khan being OTT chaved up bling.

Strange really, I like the blue one, but I couldn't bring myself to have Khan written across it, whereas I was quite proud to have Overfinch Embarassed

I think Alastair's hit the nail on the head. It comes down to whether it's available front the factory, or at least dealer network. If so, then it's OK for enthusiasts, if not it's aftermarket bling.

You have to admit, there's some real tat available as standard kit. The chrome mirror half covers being a good example. Also most of us would probably happily take a Holland and Holland version, but if say, Louis Vuitton did an aftermarket conversion, would you want it? (I know H & H make fantastic guns, but really now they're more of a luxury marque, I worked for them, and they're all about buying and badging expensive italian 'tweeds' etc.).

Car buying is all about personal taste, the Range Rover appeals to many different people for many different reasons, and it's great that it can be personalised so extensively. Like the car itself is very marmite, so are the modifications. For me, I'll not judge those who modify their cars, whether to my taste or not, since it really bugs me when people judge me just for driving a Range Rover.

As for those who do it, if they can build a successful business tweaking peoples cars, good luck to them, it's entrepreneurship, and that's what we need in this country. Thumbs Up If they tried to apply their own taste to the way in which people want their cars done, they would be idiots, and would fail in their business. Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

I have got to say, despite my previous Lancashire/Yorkshire bit of fun - If I could afford the Blue one I would have it Whistle

Theres two camps as I think have already been identified.

1. Hunting, Shooting, Farming, who like the RR for it's go anywhere ability and it's ruggedness and it's a load more comfortable than a Defender.

2. People like me who like it just because it is an iconic British brand, you have one because you want one and can afford to run one and in fact it is great to drive BUT off road only for fun if at all.

Both groups could probably afford a bit of "pimp my ride" action but it probably appeals most to the second group.

and just to prove it - If I could afford the Blue one I would have it - I don't think I've seen a nicer vehicle that ticks so many boxes. Very Happy Geoff

Personally I have my car pretty standard, no sidesteps, standard wheels, only a little colour coding, most of which was done by the original owner on first purchase.

To me however the best mark of good taste and style is to respect other people's opinions or ideas, even if you don't agree with them! Very Happy

Otherwise we'd be just like the idiots who go around keying our cars because they've judged us to be arrogant tossers who are trying to destroy the planet. Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!
