Tyre will be only very slightly taller (5mm increase in rolling radius) so may cause minor speedo error. However thewy will fill the arches a little better and should look

Forgot to say that you also get the same "Comfort Value" as you do with 255/55 R19 so thats unusual for 20" Rims....

Ive ordered the Hankook Ventus ST RH06 and will have them fitted on Monday. Size is larger, 275/45/20 to get as close to the rolling diameter of the 255/50/20 as possible with RRS rims since the RRS tyres are too small for the FFRR.

I just hope the RRS AB wheels ive got look as good on the FF as they do in the boxes

Will update once the tyres are fitted and ive had a few days with it.

If they are the grey ones with thick round spokes I love them

Not sure which they are and cant figure out how to post a picture, they are 10 spoke machine finished with a grey inside.

Understand your choice of 275/45 over the 265/50 however:

255/50 = 2327 circumference 8.8 ride quality

265/50 = 2358 circumference 9.6 ride quality (31mm off standard - bigger)

275/45 = 2304 circumference 8.2 ride quality (23mm off standard - smaller)

Therefore by choosing 265/45 over 265/50 you have smaller than Standard Wheels and worse ride quality. Persobally I would have gone with the oversize tyre to get the bigger sidewall and comfort factor plus a better fill of arches but there is not much in it

I wanted a bit of extra road feel (not as much as the 285/35/22 i just took off) hence the smaller sidewall and wider footprint.

Have to admit i hadnt realised a 265/50/20 would work, its actually a strange size and about £40 per corner more expensive so i think im good with my choice

Is the 275/45/20 the wrong size, i can call the tyre shop and change the order before its too late?.

I think they will work very well may just look slightly too small as do all RRS wheel/tyre combos....

Wont the 265 wide tyre be slightly narrow for the 9.5 J wide rims?. Tyre calculators suggest so.

A 275/45/20 tyre has a side wall of 124mm against a 255/50/20 of 127mm yet the 265/50/20 is 132mm which will make them very soft.

I guess your right the 275/45 may look too small

OK so you have a choice:

1. Tyres you ordered will allow super fast handling but be a bit hard ride wise and may look like shopping trolley wheels.

2. Oversize 265/50 with have more side-wall so slightly more give/roll but will look better than standard (as will fill arches and look business like) and provide a very comfortable ride equivalent to a 255/55 R19.

You will have a slightly greater speedo deviation though.

I am not trying to persuade you as we all have opinions and the smaller wheels WILL be better for handling but I do not scream around corners in a Range Rover.

PS: I Had not considered the suitability of the 9.5J Rim!

What is the factory standard tyre size for the RRS rims you have?

275/40/20 I believe.

I rang the tyre dealer and he spat his dummy out so the order is cancelled now anyway
