Parking sensors, sometimes working, sometimes not.

I have a slight issue, parking sensors work sometimes, however other times I just get a long beep and they don't operate (front or rear).

I tried to evaluate if its a dampness issue, however cannot conclude at this time.

Any ideas?

Had the same issue and I used my Faultmate to read the codes. Two sensors were defective and I replaced them (easy job at the back, bit of work at the front). If you can find someone that can read the faultcodes that is easiest.

Other method is to listen to them (in a quiet environment). They emit a faint noise that you (if your hearing is still good) should be able to hear.

You could take the connectors off, spray them with WD 40 or something like that and put them back in case it is corrosion of a connector.

Good luck. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Thanks, will see if I can find someone who can read faults would make things easier.

I tried the listening method, but couldn't hear anything :s

If the water is giving you issues, then take the connectors off, put some vaseline on and put them back. It won't help against the pressure of the jet wash but will keep rain water out and still allow electricity to go through (I also use it on the battery poles to keep corrosion off).

If the vaseline takes care of the problem then you are lucky, otherwise it is replacing the sensors and they are not so cheap that you would just change all eight Sad MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

On the rear bumper ones : push them out from behind the bumper, disconnect etc.
On the front you have to take away some of the plastic covers inside the wheel well (outer sensors) on the center I don't know how it is normally done since mine has a bull bar fitted. Pulling them out from the front, I haven't been able to do it although theoretically it should be feasible.

The connectors are easy to take off. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
