It's back to dealer next week for a few days...for them to run various tests on it.
Hopefully they will find the fault.

Notwithstanding that, the "new" cycle on the FBH is only 17 minutes now.
if you go to the webasto web site, the tests they run take 30 minutes to clear a windscreen of a car which has been overnight in temperatures of -7 degrees. Quite a few UK nights were like that last year.
And the time it takes to make the cabin warm and toasty? Webasto estimate between 15 and 30 minutes depending on the size of car. 17 minutes sir? That must imply the size of your car is towards the smaller end.

Er, Land Rover....i don't think so. Last time I looked, my FFRR was bigger than average.

in the T91 remote handbook is says that the remote can be set at 10 min intervals up to 120 mins.

Webasto also recommend a setting of 30 mins if you have a 30 min drive to work and so on.

Unfortunately I believe the Land Rover 17 minute software disables any kind of user customisation to do with time. You could always press it again after 17 mins.

Indeed...I could run it repeatedly until the cabin was warm, and the screen clear.
But the battery is normally flat after 5-10 minutes.
So it would be nice to have just one complete cycle at the moment - the thought of running repeated cycles is a dream.

Flat or the low battery warning? There's a big problem it your battery is going flat after this time as the car is meant to stop the heater programme to preserve this.

My beloved 2004 TD6 with 225000 km is fore sale and sitting on my driveway for two weeks now without running and waiting for a buyer.
So I did a test this morning; started with the remote the FBH and went back after 30 minutes, stept into the Range and it started without any problem!
The battery is still the original Varta, now 7 and a half years old and supplied 225000 km long juce to the Range.
Three years ago, the audio system stopped working and I was suggested to fit a new battery. accidentally the audio worked again fine and I stowed the old battery in the garage. Some time later the audio stopped again and the final reason was water corrosion on the Amp plugs.
Last year I had starting problems, someone suggested a new starter motor but this time it did not start so after further testing the new battery ( only 2 years old) was already found dead: internal short circuit.
So I put the old one back in and it still delivers to the max as mentionned above.
Long story just to say that IMHO the FBH can not be a reason for a flat battery ( if OK) RR 2012MY TDV8 AB ipanema sand

the point is that whilst some people say the FBH makes their cabin nice and toasty, you keep reminding me that my car is designed to be cold and miserable inside after I have tried to operate the FBH because it is designed this way to protect the battery.

There's a big difference between low battery warning and a flat battery.

I had a similar issue and it was an issue with the software for the battery sensor, not the battery. It was throwing up the warning message too early. I know this isn't ideal because it prevents functions as such but on earlier vehicles sometimes the preheater would cut out only when it was too late...

We are talking about FBHs on this thread.
And a "low battery" warning, or a flat battery will stop the FBH working properly.
Are you happy that is an accurate statement now?
Anyway, I thought you believed the FBH was only a fashion accessory?


Whilst somepeople are saying the FBH will make their cabin warm and toasty, my point is that with a new FFRR, it may not.
The webasto has a certain capacity - a capacity it was designed with.

So if your FBH is working without problem, and will cycle for 30 ninutes at a time, then your cabin will be warm and toasty. In the FAQs it says it takes between 15 and 30 minutes to warm a cabin.
If you have a new FFRR, and the cycyle time is only 17 minutes, your cabin will be just starting to warm up, and your windscreen may not be cleared. As cabins come, the FFRR has a large one. Land Rover have fudged the original design.....look at the screen to set the climate timer....it says 30 minutes. Read the hand book.....20 - 30 minutes. How long will the remote fob flash for after activation? Yup you guessed it...30 minutes.
If your FFRR still has problems, with battery, software, or whatever is bugging the hell out of me with my FFRR, you wont even notice the FBH has come on, because it will have been shut down after 5 minutes.

tried my pre heater this morning and didnt notice any difference what so ever....i went up to the car a heard somthing going on but didnt think the car was particularly cosey?

it did turn off mind you after about 15 mins?

I used mine this morning, after 10 minutes went out to the car and everything was working - the fans were running, blowing lovely warm air around the cabin.

@barrieeld - when you activate the system you should be able to hear the FBH starting up and running outside the car. On mine it seems that just the heater runs for a couple of minutes before the internal fans kick in.

I heard somthing going on outside the car but it was just like the fans blowing?

I tried mine, fans running but cabin cold. Any way of checking that it really is working? Graham
