You need to buy the Genuine LR electrics for the 13pin euro plug. This a short length of loom that coverts everything for you. Then you can rest assured that everything will work as LR intended...

just been out to car, i seem to have the main white plug, but it isn't being used just hanging free. don't seem to have smaller black plug though. is that part of the L/R loom that i will be adding in?

OK, the black module you refer to is nothing to do with towing electrics.

You will also need the proper towing module which is another £55 ish quid but is the black box in the picture above about 1-2" to the left of the white plug. It's a simple job to fit but take out the spare wheel and get some old carpet to lay on while you try an feed the fecka thru the tiny hole in the body and seal it right!

You should be fine fitting the 13 pin plug yourself. The FFRR does not have a switched socket like some others (Mercs) so a standard socket can be wired on. The genuine ones are filled with potting resin to keep the moisture out though so you might want to do this yourself. Oh, and buy a high quality socket with stainless contacts, not the cheapie brass thing.

Provided there are no redundant wires from the loom you shouldn't have any problems. |
