Finding Service History

I need to trace the service history on my car....

So far I've rung Guy Salmon Bristol and Stratstone Land Rover. Both have said they are unable to check the service history of a LR unless they've seen it before.

I presume this is because they are not full LR dealers and are just "Authorised Service Centres" or something?

What is the process for researching service history?

Dan

Yep dealer's will only have service history if its been to them before i think.

They do have access to full warranty work repairs though.

PM me your VIN and i'll just double check the LR system see what i can find for you.

Many thanks for the offer, PM on its way.

It's a shame LR don't have a central database of whats been serviced where... The kind lady on the phone advised me that I should ring all the dealers in the area to find out who has serviced it Neutral

dan , i rang 'th whites' at swindon and asked if there were any outstanding warranty work on mine and they confirmed there wasnt...now that is warranty not service so i assume , as others have , that you need to go to the lr dealer that did the service work..these details should be in the service book..

What service book? Laughing

The car came from Saxtons, the previous owner says they said they would fwd it to him and never did. It doesnt bother me too much. LR services are a bit of a joke anyway. I just fancied having the service history to increase the resale value, as other people arent as gung-ho as me!

i agree, the service that you get is not always what you pay for... a well looked after car by the owner is worth much more...

Interesting, I took mine into Hunters of Brock (Main Dealer) to have the suspension height re-calibrated and they were happy to confirm the Service history and all the warranty work that had been done on the car although none of it had been done by them. They also confirmed no outstanding recalls on the car. Thumbs Up

There was however no record of the new offside wing having been fitted, it's been done very well but I can tell now, although I didn't notice on purchase. Crying or Very sad Geoff

I've been told before that they can only look up service history if the car has been within their own computer system / company. Guy Salmon are of course a Sytner group which have their own systems I believe.

I expect it's the same for other dealers, just because they sell land rovers doesn't mean they all run on the same system.

I can only presume when it comes to warranty work, they can all access land rovers own system for that record keeping.

Yeah, and sometimes; RE: Sytner Group, when you look at a car that was a one user car owned by a guy in Sconny Botland, and you buy it from Guy Salmon in Leeds (now Farnell) Mysteriously all of the service stamps are from Guy Salmon Leeds!

Expensive service that, including a c.300 mile round trip!

Not worth the paper it's printed on!!!
