it was soon apparent that the wires could not be added to the slip ring so we had to go with the idea of the wireless way,

Hi, just for reference - there are enough slip ring contacts if you rationalise what is in use, see posts made earlier on how. No need for radio remote etc., just some re-wiring, I have it all working, steering switches, paddle switches and steering heating.

Basically the existing wiring consists of two +ve supplies and two earths through the slip ring, by combining both +ves and earths into one for each, two tracks are freed off for the paddle shifts.

Best regards!

Hi, Your method sounds a more acceptable solution. Do you have the full instructions on how to do the retro fit of the paddles?

Hi Craig, i dont have access to any of the 2006+ wiring diargams to 100% confirm that the wiring is the same, but i am asuming that you have the same style interior as mine e.g. pre 2007 upgrade. So the gearshift should be the same, if you just take a look a the wiring when you take apart the centre console and just look at the purple connector and trace the wires back to the microswitch that does the original upshift/downsift of the gearshift. Just make sure that the wires are correct before taping into them, most tiptronic systems work on the same principle of just shorting to ground to make the connection to either upshift or downshift the transmission.

Take some pics if you can and if you need any help PM me and i will send you my mobile number and i can try and talk you though it.

Matt

Matt, thanks for coming back to me... I have looked and yes the purple plug seems to be the same as the earlier models... And yes mine has the earlier trim but with the later touch screen nav...

Very busy weekend ahead, extend piano wood inside (including paddle shift to new piano wheel), fit 2011 facelift front & rear, fit 2011 overfinch spoilers/bumpers etc, fit 22's, then hopefully the new lowering module will arrive early next week to complete! Shocked Shocked Shocked

may i just add if you have a hse without the rear heated seats then this wire will not be any good for you as there is no power to it

instead get the power from the wire that goes to the aux fan just underneath this plug

Either up load them to the fullfatrr.com gallery and copy the img tag or up load them to an external website and use the 'Img' button to add them to your post.

If you want to use the fullfatrr.com gallery you may need to reduce the image size if they are too large to upload.

Feel free to pm me with any questions if you need more help Thumbs Up

Finally finished the upgrades to the SC including the paddleshift kit... WOW works great! Gone the hardwired route and on a trip upto Silverstone this weekend it worked brilliantly for the 'A road' overtakes. Just leave it in auto for the majority of the trip, then when you want a little more control for overtaking knock it into sport and change with the paddles... Brilliant!

A further note, to answer some earlier points. I used the manual mode on my last FF TD6 when towing my tri axle car transporter as the gearbox had a tendancy to hold gears on long uphill climbs. Have yet to tow with the SC but am expecting the same hence the paddles...

Will post pics of 2011 conversion, overfinch bumper and other mods shortly... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

A BIG thanks to Matt for the you tube vids... Made my job significantly easier... Bow down
