I know this would be illegal but...

Sometimes, I really wish I had 2 blue strobe lights behind my front grille so that I could get idiotic and crap drivers out of the way when they sit in the outside lane, oblivious to the fact they are holding everyone up when they should pull over. Particularly when they have a car that is so underpowered they shouldn't venture to that lane in the first place!

I know what you mean, it makes my blood boil. The worst thing is when the person in the middle lane driving at 59 has been forced into the fast lane by a lorry. Does he put his foot down? No, he sits there overtaking the lorry at a steady 2 miles per hour!

Verge - Hard Shoulder - Inside Lane - Middle Lane - Outside Lane (Passing Lane) - Median

Perhaps you're using a Euro adopted standard?

Regarding lane identification, If you call an accident into the police on 999 they always refer to the lanes by numbers. Lane 1 the inside one (next to the hard shoulder) I kept saying the inside lane and they corrected me saying lane 1. This is obviously the correct terminology.
Stewart.
