Totally agree. Would hate for it to turn into a Bentley Conti GT image!

Yes i also think the new range rover will be even more upmarket so you could well be right, the jump in price will big enough to hold the L322's prices up.

Got a feeling the new range rover might be too posey so ill turn to the disco in the future, i like the luxury rugged work horse image which my old range rover does so well... Very Happy

I don't think the new Range Rover will be that much more expensive.
It's not one of a kind now, it's just a model in the Range Rover brand. So it doesn't justify some crazy exclusive price.
I'd be very surprised if it's more than 5k over a Vogue starting point. (so £70k)
Which if it's noticably lighter, more efficient and faster won't be good for later L322 prices.

Just my opinion.

It's going further upmarket, and that isn't usually cheaper.

$120k is about £75k.
Still not much of a jump really, even if it's a bit more than I suggested.
Still be a good buy when it's a year or two old. Thumbs Up

Cars are cheap in the States - the current Range Rover starts at $80k over there.

So you think it's going to be 50%+ more expensive?
May make buyers of new L322s feel good now, but just can't see it.

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Orkney Grey

No matter what, the depreciation will be big - we all know this ! Big Cry

It's interesting to look on sites like Parkers guide. Here's a brief 5 year price history based on Diesel Vogue SE

Obviously the "now worth figures" are open to interpretation & spec etc, new price is based on standard SE - no extras !

2006 - new £63045 - now worth £26K
2007 - new £68947 - now worth £35K
2008 - new £67905 - now worth £41K
2009 - new £70995 - now worth £51K
2010 - new £74495 - now worth £62K
2011 - new £76135 - drive out the showroom today & loose probably £5K to 8K instantly !
MY2012 (from september 2011) - new £76670

As a rough guide any 3 year old car is likely to be worth around 1/2 of the current New price now.

If the new model L405 will increase much more, it'll just depreciate more Shocked

Leasing is good to a certain point, but I did all the sums before I ordered my new one and it didn't stack up. At the end of the day leasing will cost at least £3 to £5K more over 3 years as you haven't got any capital left in those payments + you may end up paying more to cover any damage / extra miles. These companies have to make money, so that's fair enough, but unless you get given a lease car by a company you work for I don't think it's worth it - you may as well buy, loose the depreciation & you'll still have some value in the vehicle & the pleasure of owning Thumbs Up

Unlikely I would have thought, but everything points to it being more expensive.

Depreciation is a given with new cars. If you can't afford it, don't buy (or lease) a new one.

So actually the RR does very well on % terms Cool , although it's still £20k you've lost. Big Cry

In comparison to some yes !

Take an Aston Martin DB9 original price £127K, 3 years later it's worth about 70K - you loose 57K (new price now I think around 135 to 140K)

But, it seems the same rules almost applies to most cars, once they get to 3 years you're looking at about 1/2 the current new price.
Vauxhall Corsa 1.0 Expression New £7995, 3 years later worth 3 1/2 to 4K - Bingo 1/2 the value Cool

United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Santorini Black

Hello Balgaa

Welcome Smile

I took the plunge and purchased a new 2011 4.4TDV8. My current car was due for a change and was costing me a lot in fuel (big petrol engine!). It crossed my mind the new one is on the way but this isn't supposedly due for unveiling/release until September 2012. I also would not purchase any car, let alone a Land Rover product within the first one or two years of production. My current car has had a degree of problems and this model has been around, in terms of shell, since 2002!

I personally would go for it as you really won't regret it. Then in a few years if you want to upgrade to the new model do so. In that way, the new model is likely to have had most of its inevitable teething problems ironed out!

Regards

I currently average around 28mpg combined. During motorway journeys I can get as high as 34mpg. Urban I haven't seen it dip below 25mpg.
