Hello all,

So far the new car has been great. Slight problem however has occurred! The rear passenger door behind (drivers side) is now shut fast. The lock works, but the door won’t open from inside or outside. Feels like there is no resistance to the handle.

Anyway to get the actual door open? Or is it terminal!

Can the door card be taken off with the door closed to get at the innards?

Any help or pointers appreciated

I have removed door cards but only with the door open...found the below thread info using the search function hope this helps.

A good trim tool kit will make the job a lot easier, loads around, and not expensive.

Very late thread update here!

Finally Managed to get the door card off. And thus the door open by toggling a tiny little switch on the inside edge of the door.

The problem seems to be the locking mechanism / actuator.

It locks fine but doesn’t seem to fully unlock. Is this a full lock unit replacement?

Without pulling it all apart does anyone know the part number for a rear door lock / actuator mechanism for a 2009 Range Rover?and has anyone done this, is it easy!

I usually search on eBay for it, it usually has the part number with it, then choose where to get it from...

Looks sort of correct, not sure I want to totally dismantle it as seems a bit complicated!

All sorted. A doddle once the door was open. New lock mechanism in, absolutely perfect.

Think the issue was with the child lock switch as it didn’t seem to fully engage. Nevertheless, thanks Haylands, we now have access again to the rear door!

I replaced my rear door actuator yesterday as well. A little fiddly but not too bad of a job. Well done.

Yep, absolute doddle with the door open.

Took a good hour of coaxing the door card to get that off with door locks shut though. The bottom right screw was the biggest pain as there wasn’t enough room to get a socket on it so had to improvise with a tiny spanner and a torx bit.

Better than taking the door off though!
