I am happy with the JLR extended warranty, so far in the past 2Y, it has more than payed for itself.
The last was an epic Rolling with laughter

So the final fix was they replaced TCU module, but this is with JLR Engineering, Extended warranty people, Incontrol people and dealer techs all mixing the pot --it took 3 weeks Whistle

Dealer techs had their hands tied, they had to follow Engineerings instructions to the letter even though we all thought it was the TCU from the start. I guess they were all worried whose budget the costs would come out from!
The bill was several thousand pounds just for labour plus the cost of TCU and 3 weeks hire car so glad I renewed the warranty Thumbs Up
The girl on the desk showed me the work file and it was 50mm thick A4 sheets!

Then we have the ticking time bomb of Sunroof drains etc and who knows where the catastrophic knuckle issue will take us?
She is now a 5Y old girl, and how long before the air compressor goes and the bags start leaking? etc 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

I took the same gamble as Pete (Haylands) seven years ago on my L322 mainly because I didn’t want to pay MD service charges to do oil and filter changes that I am perfectly competent to do myself , but we’re extra to the annual £1600 charge for warranty cover.
The only job I have paid for was getting the oil cooler gaskets changed by a local independent, so I am definitely several thousand £ in credit. Of course things like airbags are bound to fail eventually on a 12 year old car, but the savings are in my bank ready, rather than MD pockets.

PS
I do pay £32/year for Green flag to bring it home as a “peace of mind” factor., but have never needed their service so no idea how good they are.

My Sytner warranty is coming due in January and I have been quoted just over £1000 including MOT failure cover and Breakdown.

I am looking at options now.

I am thinking for peace of mind I will probably renew.

Its an expensive time though as just had to replace 4 tyres, also got a service, MOT, Tax and Insurance coming due at the same time.

Warranty Claim Rejected

Evening

Not sure what’s the point of the extended JLR warranty if they start hiding behind the wear and tear clause. My old bus is a 66plate Autobiography with only 44k miles with a full dealer service history and I’ve had a claim rejected due to age/deterioration. On of the suspension arm rubbers has failed prematurely and the warranty won’t cover them. My main concern is if they do this then everything on the warranty can now be knocked back and they can reject everything due to age. Supposedly the extended warranty is for 10yrs and/or 100,000 miles so in my mind it should cover the failed part. I’ve already stumped up for brake/pad replacements which are simply consumable parts so I have no issues with those repairs at my cost.
I’ve just taken out the policy for this year - at a huge cost - but I’m in mind now to cancel the policy as it’s not fit for purpose and being used as a cash generator by the warranty company

Anyone else have any comments on the subject? Thoughts??

Yes well my opinion has now changed from my last post. After the money grabbing Extended warranty people failed to meet the true cost of the oil cooler repair, leaving me to pay an extra £360 deficit, I have not renewed. Putting the money away each month as suggested by several members.
It was useful for the first few years but there comes a time when after the shake down period ends and you gain confidence in the car it becomes a no brainer. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

Are you sure that it’s the warranty company rejecting the claim?
I’ve had 2 JLR claims rejected by the dealer hiding behind the excuse that the extended warranty won’t pay. On both occasions I contacted the warranty company directly and found that the claim hadn’t been reported to them.
On both occasions the claim was paid.

I was the same and happy to have the JLR warranty over the last few years but this recent claim rejection has made me think otherwise. If I was to be pessimistic I could argue anything could be deemed as wear and tear so all claims would be null and void. Why JLR offer 10yr or 100,000 miles as an extended warranty product if they can hide behind wear and tear? The only time I guess a claim would be accepted would be if there is a catastrophic failure of a component. There’s a lot to go wrong if the worst happens but there again, is it a chance worth taking if something serious happens. - turbo/gearbox etc fails?

I’m going to have to think about this some more before I cancel my policy…..

This happens because the dealer will charge you far more per hour than the warrantee company will pay them, this can be £1.000's...

It's another great way for the dealers to make easy money... Rolling Eyes Pete

Before work can be done the dealer needs authorisation from the warranty company. The dealer put in the original claim and I’ve followed it up with the warranty people. I have a plan b in the pipeline so see how I get on….the warranty has rejected the affected part, not the labour cost L405 2016 4.4SDV8 Autobiography Corris Grey/Pimento - Current

In my case the Indy (who only do Landrover cars) phoned me to tell me the Extended Warranty people Thumbs Up had allowed cost of parts and set hours to do the job. And there is a shortfall, I phoned warranty people who wouldn’t move even though Indy hour rate was a lot cheaper. Maybe the JLR dealers are hiding the true number of hours each task takes. I have had several warranty claims in the past with no such issues, strange the only time I went to a Indy for a warranty job and they start penny pinching. Well they lost my warranty custom Rolling with laughter
Now I also am not obliged to to have a service each year with a VAT registered garage to validate my ex warranty I will do it t myself 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue
