Some of the rise in warranty costs could be related to Ford shutting off the supply of AJ-V8 engines and parts to JLR, in some cases JLR have been buying back the vehicles at full market value, aftermarket warranties are just leaving the vehicles & owners in stasis as they're willing to pay out once assessed as being a valid claim but the repairers (in some cases JLR dealers) are unable to source the parts, so the vehicles just sit there.

@Spleen,

Well I think I got a great deal, so think a few others* and the information is on this forum already and available via the Search function, THAT’s my point.

Read my posts, I try to be as helpful as possible to fellow forum members, whilst injecting a bit of tongue-in-cheek humour now and again, but laziness irritates me, and I apologise for that.

So why not go out there, go and get a great deal, and then post it here for the benefit of your FFRR brethren in the spirit of this forum, that would be fantastic, wouldn’t it? Thumbs Up

* - Opinions will vary as to what a great deal is, it’s a complex subject.

Which is precisely what I'm trying to do by asking a question on here. Imagine going into a pub and striking up a conversation with a pintee only for him to say, 'See that group over there? They were talking about that six months ago. Off you go.'

Great, my post irritates you because I'm lazy. I'm sure there are bigger and better things to be irritated about so why not go out there and find one and share it with the group when you've found it.

Seriously, if you don't like the thread, just ignore it. 2017 Vogue SE

That must be very recent.

I own a Citroen Dispatch van which had it’s 3rd birthday 4 months ago. I bought an RAC warranty for that online.

3 years cover at 12k miles per annum cost me £1000, which also includes 3 years full breakdown and recovery and has the labour rate set at £100 per hour. I thought that was quite a good deal, although it has to be said my Citroen has been far more reliable in 3 years of ownership that most of my Land Rovers have been Neutral

Looks like I got covered in the nick of time Thumbs Up

Tried various ways of looking for it but despite my best efforts it looks like buying it directly has disappeared. Had one quote from Motoreasy that came in about £20 under the LR Warranty. go figure. Warranty Direct keeps saying I've tried too often online and need to call them.

I suspect I'll just go with LR as it's easier unless someone knows of another warranty supplier? 2017 Vogue SE

@Spleen:

You may have a point, but it may be useful to you still to read these slightly older posts, to learn how to handle these companies, and how to manipulate the situation to your advantage to get a much better deal.
I achieved a reduction of 30% from MotorEasy £2100 for three years cover, by such tactics on their Premium product, -whatever that is worth, and not having made any claim so far, I must admit.

Noted that your short posting profile is 100% requesting assistance, and 0% offering assistance or how-to’s, a little more respect for those of us who have made a much greater effort on the forum to assist others would be appreciated, since such behaviour discourages our general positive attitude of helpfulness, thank you, and I hope you achieve a satisfactory warranty result, and seek to share it with others. Thumbs Up “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Wow, thanks dad. I see the Internet police are alive and well, I must remember to enforce that ‘rule’ on my own forum website. Did you really actually trawl through my posting history, just to make a point? You might want to take a good long look in the mirror, that’s actually pretty, well, pathetic if I’m honest.

You seem to be a generally helpful chap, you may wish to maintain that profile by not coming across as a bit of a sanctimonious pub bore with his own stool and special tankard. I don’t spend my entire life on social media, picking apart people’s posts, contributions and general posting style, I’m usually out and about driving stuff. You might want to consider doing the same.

There, I contributed to the site. Happy now? And people wonder why they loathe marque forums, there’s always one self-appointed moderator and you seem to be it.

Rolling Eyes

Thanks to others who contributed meaningfully, appreciated. You’ve helped me inform my decision. 2017 Vogue SE

I have just made 2 claims using Warranty First. This was during the first 3 months of ownership using the free 3 month warranty.

Total claim was around £1600.
I paid around £650 as I wanted LR parts not aftermarket.
I paid for engine oil and the difference / discrepancy with labour rates.

But generally I was happy with the service.

Today my 3 months runs out. I have just got off the phone with WF. The issue now is should I pay for a fresh warranty or not?

12 months @ £800
24 months @ £1200
36 months @ £1600

Mine is covered with Sytner Select for 2 years (18 months left) but I did buy the car from them.

Previously I had my Panamera covered by Warranty Wise and found them pretty good. It was £60 per month and I did need to claim on it a few times and the cover was pretty comprehensive. I did try a quote from them a year or so ago for an L405 and it was around £80 which I thought was ok.

They were quite easy to deal with and the garage can claim directly if need be.

They have special sales every so often, so if you can get in at the right time you can get a better deal!
