United Kingdom 2016 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Santorini Black

I was just fishing about for a car play solution to my 2016. I spotted that there is a car play plug in module available for the 322.

I’ve not used these peeps before so it’s not a recommendation just a shout to say they are available.

Not cheap tho….. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Plug and play is a bit of a misnomer for the UAD solution. Check out the Sam Motor and Machine 2 part video on how he did his. It's a dash out job plus disassemble the head unit to then plug and play the solution. I'd have this but couldn't be bothered in the end.

I think this solution is quite difficult and expensive. Also, you are limited by the quality and size of the original screen with quite poor resolution by today’s standards.

With thanks to a few posts in this forum and RobsterPC have my Aliexpress Christmas gift installed and running.
1.5mm aluminium sheet and some heavy duty Velcro from Amazon. Sheet cut to suit my unit, about 3-4 inches slot in easily between dash top and original ICE unit. Dashcam is still at a good height, unit is within easy reach.
Few things worth considering for people going this route, where the power input is on device. Mine is on bottom, but the unit came with power lead with a 90deg plug that sends lead out from the back of the unit - if I really wanted a tidy install I’d try and get a different power lead, maybe even run through dashtop vent to fuse box. Power is the only lead I’m using for my setup, run to cig lighter socket at rear of centre console.
I’m using CarPlay with iPhone, and that linked perfectly with unit (wireless), I’m then using my BT Bovee device for sound* and also BT to original Landrover unit for phone calls. All works seamlessly except Siri, she goes via the original Landrover connection so it looks like I’m phoning Siri every time, and doesn’t sound nice. I’ve tried different ways but that’s the only way I can hear and interact with Siri. Waze/Music/Maps all send sound via Bovee and sound really good.
The unit powers up when I unlock the car, and CarPlay is usually up and running by the time I’m in and ready to start. Overall very happy with cheap and easy setup. 2010 Supercharged

Glad to see options for install if I opt for CarPlay.

Great to see its working. I'm just back from a trip to the Alps with 3 mates. We used AndroidAuto and Carplay on the same unit at different times, it all worked smoothly.

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Java Black

My car is a 2006 MY 4.2sc. My Apple Car Play cost £30.99 and I can’t fault it.

During the first 12 months of ownership, I’d updated the bt module so my phone connects automatically and for audio streaming I used a bt receiver with an audio cable into to the rear aux socket. It sounded great but the bt unit needs to be recharged and inevitably the battery runs out and you end up with another wire in the car going to the cigarette lighter socket.

Last month, I saw the unit on the photo and for the price I thought I’d give it a go. The result far exceeds my expectations.

Pros:
- 5 mins set up (I used the supplied sucker and arm, resting the unit on the dash by the grill)
- great sound quality (tune to 87.5 or 108 fm to avoid commercial stations)
- reconnects automatically each time you use the car
- Apple Car Play works well, including Waze

Cons:
- supplied power lead is short and drapes down over the dash (I will replace with a hardwire cable)
- incoming phone calls aren’t coming though the system (I need to look into this as I’m sure it’s a setting I need to adjust but I’ve had no time to do so

)

Tip: turn off the internal speaker on the unit. It sounds awful.

Hope this is useful. Des
