Yes the V8 unit does have a break in period so power is reduced, that was normal on mine. |

Dealership called me back and said no power restriction it should not be sluggish or limited... I'm taking it back in tomorrow per their request to be looked at.

Mine was say at 80% power when new until around 3k then loosened up and was then at 100%, sounds like you do have a problem, mine is a 615 but same lump |

Thanks - I'm going to try to take the car somewhere to have it independently tested on a dyno. Our dealership won't be able to test that and I can foresee issues with them looking. If anyone has recommendations in the Hampshire area for an independent who can look for me that would be great. Never had a new car issue before, so frustrating after a 12 month wait for the car. |

Dealer now saying there are limiters on the new models carrying the BMW engine - heavy limits until 250 miles when you get a release of some power then full release at 350. Will update if that solves it so others don't have my panic I've got a dud. Amazed they don't tell you at hand over. |

Personally I can't fathom why someone would do a 0-60 test in a brand new car, surely driving with some mechanical sympathy, nice and gently, for a few hundred miles just seems like a better idea...... Pete

So the simple answer is to read the manual….

If it was a Jag/LR offering I could understand the restrictions

The i-manual (app) doesn't include this added information in under the run in section - so it's easy to not find even if you read the manual. The online manual via the LR website does have the info. So they have only updated one for some reason. There is also another version of the run-in details that the dealer has as their information was different again (he sent a photo which was a partial version of the table). I've got to say the hand over was pretty poor, worst of any of the cars I've had. I've also never had a dealer not inform us of a run in period, my wife's G63 had a big sticker on the windscreen and at Porsche they give you fantastic hand overs. I also think it's a little dangerous if someone used to big engines get in and go to pull out and find it moves like a milk float (not that I'd trust a new car but there will be people who do).
