No volume control on steering wheel, everything else works.

As in the title everything on the steering wheel works except the volume up and down, has been working fine since I bought it, as the horn, telephone, cruise etc all works, I am doubtful its the clock spring/steering wheel coupling. As sometimes after a full shutdown it will work again. Coincidently at the same time, my cd player has stopped recognising discs, comes up as invalid disc. Whetehr the two are related I am not sure, I have yet to check the back end. The car is an 08 plate however has the later type seats and also the later type bluetooth that is not a retrofit. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Hi, mine did the exact same thing a few times, I sprayed a liberal amount of contact cleaner around the switch and it’s never given me any trouble since. I’ve also had the steering wheel off though so might be a solution that both options.

Taking the steering wheel off is easier than it seems.

Thanks pal, was just your volume affected? It did it again today, parked up no volume control, mrs popped in morrisons and when she came out, started car and worked again? Will give it a go with some cleaner.

Yes exactly the same, would be just the volume control and then would work again after restarting.

Hasn’t done it for a year or more now. With the steering wheel off you can take the unit off and dig deeper if necessary.

Hello!
The volume control didn't work on my L322 (2011) either. The CD changer was to blame.
