As an update, the battery is kaput. It’s a Bosch S5 013 that the local garage supplied and has been depleted through being left unused for long periods so lots of codes, bings and bongs.

Checked the fuses in the rear 1/4 and also the other rear 1/4 for signs of ingress of water. Thankfully bone dry back there.

indeed the first place to start is the battery..power sockets and head units can sometimes not power up because of low voltage.. ... - .- -.

Thanks Stan, the battery has recharged, got it to hold 12.5 steady when the car isn’t running and 14.2 charging when running. Not to say its not weakened but just surprised even with the charger attached the head unit wont fire up, no life at all from it.
