It is stan, but I’m a bit wary of a D350 from a private dealer. It’s on 45k and has full LR SH, which means it’s probably had 1 oil change in its life…….

Bit of scrolling this morning and I’ve found an SDV8 on a 70 in the same colour full ivory inside and no black pack but a few less options at an MD with LR warranty….. that could be interesting so I’ve asked for a vid. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

buying from a MD is certainly an attractive proposition...i had to wait for the right one to come along so i would get the LR extended warranty..

I found this when looking for a Fifty/AB recently. There are so few coming up as approved used now that they don't hang around very long. And if they are the D350 versions (which seem to be rarer) they are almost gone the day they get listed.

I missed out on an AB and a Fifty Edition (both D350) because I dithered by a day or two so then I started checking the LR site at least twice a day and had alerts set up for LR dealers on AT. When I saw a couple of Fifty's pop up I immediately reserved them on the LR site for £99 fully refundable deposit. This takes them off the site straight away and gave me the opportunity to speak to the dealers and see the cars without worrying that they'd be gone by the time I arranged anything. I ended up buying the second one from Yorkshire (quite a pleasant couple of days away last month )

Don’t know why it is still up tho, the only thing I don’t like about that is the farmer hitch. Though that could be changed for a westfalia like mine has got for not a lot. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Spent the afternoon cleaning Longleat off the old girl.

Gave her a good wash, vac, gliptone and shampooed the mats.

Looking mighty fine and shiney.

Compiling a list of Jobs which will need doing if I keep it to help with the man maths….🤣…..

Brakes front and rear
Gearbox oil and filter
Preventative oil cooler gasket
Rear o rings
Preventative Idler and belt tensioner
New tow socket since I shorted the plug on the caravan…..

But other than that she is in good fettle and still looking good especially on the new wheels. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Shiney update.

To TLC or to swap, heavily leaning towards the spend some love and time on the old girl and resisting the swap option so far.

She is in the stealer for a service and to have the EGT sensor fixed under warranty. 💥 so that’s the main issue sorted.

While I was pratting about under it with Adblue I noticed the guard for the fuel tank had rusted through….MD pulled this up at service and has quoted £900 to replace. Which given I can’t do it myself and the part is £450 seems ok ish……but they are on back order so will be a future job……You have to take exhaust and prop off to do it which is beyond my lying on my back skills.

They also quoted me £700 for some front ARB bushes. Which given I did them on the drive 30k ago seems a lot of labour so they are on the future Job list. £100 of parts ish with the brackets and bolts.

I asked them to see if warranty would do the cooler gaskets as I’ve got a bit of oil round that too, and the hot smell on a long run. We shall see, if not then that’s a job to do myself I’ve asked them to do the o rings at the same time if warranty approves and I’ll pay for the rings and a bit of time.

Also rear discs and pads need done according to them. Which looking back is possibly a tad early for discs but bang on for pads. As you can park the rear EBC and it’s an easy swap I will do the discs as well. While I’m oily I might as well do the fronts. £500 of parts.

I’ve ordered a ZF pan and oil change kit off AUTODOC which was on mega deal at £190, it also fits the D350 I’m looking at so that seems to be a no brainer…….

Sound like I will have to round up the spanners, but nothing is looking too spendy to do. I feel some how too dos will have to be looked at or written! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
