CTEK battery trickle charger/ conditioner

Anyone know, is it ok to connect the CTEK battery trickle charger/conditioner to the remote battery connectors under the bonnet? The manual states to remove the battery from the vehicle to charge it but most do say that but all will sell you a trickle charger for when vehicle is going to be idle for a couple of weeks.

Can't see why not...?? But I connect mine through the towing electrics with an adaptor they used to sell in the shop on here but that seems to be broken at the moment. Mike - MPx

That’s exactly what I do, I generally pop mine on once a week as I don’t do a lot of mileage and it gives you the opportunity to have a peak at water ect. I used the crocodile clips originally but now use the ringlet option held down by a couple of rubber gromits 2021 SVautobiography Dynamic Black ( Black wheels need to go )

Thanks guys. Just wanted to make sure it wouldn’t mess with any of the electronic ‘giblets’ that may hide en route to the battery in the boot.

I've had mine hooked onto a halfords battery charger using the terminals in the engine bay for a couple of weeks recently whilst doing work on it. No issues.

I've also had it hooked up the same way for a shorter day / overnight periods too ... no issues. I normally would do it when I could tell the engine was cranking a little bit slower than normal in the colder whether.

So personally I'd say it would be fine. V8 or else ...

If I am not using the FF for a week or so I will often plug it into the ctek using the under bonnet terminals just to keep the battery in top condition.

@firstRR,

A definitive yes, that’s fine.
I’ve had my CTEK MXS5 connected to the posts via a CTEK socket in the OS little lower grille for the past 2 years, (only when parked, obvs) and it charges/conditions the battery as expected.
