I've just got my first RR, 2019 L405, and am very pleased so far.

I'm trying to make sure the software is the latest version. The instructions seem very simple but when I click Software Update, instead of getting a screen saying what version I have and a button to check for an update, I get a message that says Software updates keep your vehicle performing at its best and provides improvements to features.

I can't see anything to click or swipe to get past this message.

Hi Ian, the Incontrol software hasn't had an update since 2021 but you would need an active incontrol subscription to be able to update the software, this is normally supplied for 3 years from new but then expires.

You can pay for a subscription but you might find you are on the latest version anyway but it would enable you to update the sat nav maps. Depends if you use the built in sat nav or apple car play / Android auto.

If you got it from a LR dealer might be worth asking for a free subscription to incontrol ?

Thanks for your reply. I think I have the subscription you are describing. I can see the status of the car, fuel level, windows open etc as well as lock it and see routes it has driven from the app on my phone.

I was expecting the screen I have shown above to show me the current version of software.

When I check mine is says software up to date after a couple of seconds so it looks like its actually making a call back to LR servers to check. Just checking you are going settings > all settings > software > check for updates ?

Might be worth logging on to see if you can perform a map update, it will let you know if you have a licence for updates. you can update maps here:

If you are able to check, the latest infotainment version is S22A and the vehicle connectivity system is 19.2 The last update to the L405 for these was back in 2022 so I don't think there will be anything beyond these unless its a major issue. 2021 P400 Silicon Silver AB

I will post a pic if necessary tomorrow but I’ve got one and it goes to the next screen and confirms if maps are up to date (subscription req ) then an update that can not be updated. Thanks for all the replies. I believe the car has an active data sim. The display is because it is connected to my home WiFi. The reason I think it has a SIM is when it was in for service i.e. away from my WiFi, I could see when doors and bonnet were opened / closed and when the car was driving / parked via the Land Rover Remote app on my phone.

Where it is parked now, I can lock/unlock it, flash the lights etc via the app. Surely this means the car is connected to something? However the update screen does not move past the initial photo point.

those functions are accessed from the built in telematics sim...the removable data sim is for updates.

try and use your web browser or live apps..

I've just checked that and I can web browse as well as check weather etc using the live apps. When I update the live apps I get rotating squares for a bit and then it says they are up to date. It is only when I do the settings - all settings - software update route that I seem to get this issue.

You don’t need a data SIM to update software, it works fine connected to WiFi.

Also, the InControl remote stuff isn’t reliant on a separate data SIM, it’s inbuilt - the data SIM would just be used to access live traffic/fuel/parking data on the factory sat nav.

From the above, my car has a WiFi connection as well as a mobile data connection but the updates are not working. I've seen mention in other posts that sometimes they need enabling by the main dealer. Maybe that is the issue.
