If I disconnect the battery...............

In the past with other makes if I disconnect the battery i need at the very least to enter a Radio code. maybe reset of few other things and the clock.

I have a particular problem with the steering column up and down adjustment, it seems to have a mind of it's own. Sometimes I start the engine and it heads for the lowest setting, trying to kneecap me in the process, a touch of the stalk stops it and I can put it back into teh correct position.. Usually it rises to the top on key removal- normal I think - but often the motor keeps on running any move of the control stalk in any direction stops it.

I've read on here that a battery disconnect can sort out many electrical issues is this likely to be one of them as it may relate to the memory settings for seat position etc, but is there a risk of causing more?

I disconnected mine to replace the battery - absolutely no issues or codes required on start up.

I've disconnected my battery several times. The only things that needed re-setting were the clock and radio pre-sets.

might be worth turning the steering wheel full lock left and then full lock right to reset the steering parameters..

I had the same issue with my steering wheel , as I put the key in the ignition, it just started to drop down and would go all the way (i.e. virtually onto the seat) unless i moved the steering wheel adjuster in any direction, which immediately stopped it. Mine ended up in the dealers who initially thought it needed recalibrating (think the seats and steering wheel have their own 'ecu'), but in the end ,they changed a sensor I think. Luckily , mine was under warranty, unfortunately, that means I have no paperwork to see what part was changed. Steve

Ah...the mystrey of the steering wheel which tries to slice off yer nuts! Happened to me twice now over the last 6 months. Does anyone know why this happens?? Current MY2020
Gone: 1 x L405 and 2 x L322's
