Not sure on the tailgate, but you should be able to use the ski hatch behind the rear arm rest to get access to the boot area if that helps..... |

thanks yes I can get into the boot itself (via internal middle section as you say, thank you) and have popped the panel as mentioned to try the cable but can't get it to pop the boot lock.

Hooked up a proper car 🤣 to the RR - my 335d - and the volts are coming up to closer to 15 and this has let me close the rear window which was open and not closing with lower volts. So this is saying to me the battery(s) are fubar so I would replace these if I could get to them 🤣🤣

I connected a Booster (PowerBank Starter). I had the highest Booster on the market with a peak current of 25000 mAh. But I couldn't start the diesel, but I was able to energize the on-board network and open the trunk. |

Nothing like a bit of pre-emptive maintenance with these cars in particular, -don’t wait until something fails in possibly unfavourable circumstances, particularly with consumables. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that? |

25000mAh is not a peak current. That is a capacity of 25Ah, which is meaningless. You need a rating in Amps to know whether it will start the car. Chris. L405 - 4.4SDV8 Vogue P38 - 4.6V8 HSE Land Rover series IIA V8 |

I second what ChrisJC said mAh speaks to the capacity or 'duration' you can use something. On a cordless tool a 12Ah battery will drill longer than a 5Ah battery... They output the same amount of power - just longer... In terms of jump box- I bought everyone in my family one of these: https://a.co/d/dvQkFca Watch for a sale on Amazon... Its 1000Amps is only good to a 3L diesel - but that works for my L405 and my son's L494... The girls have 'petrol' Jeep Grand Cherokees. It is also great for charging devices when these hurricanes hit... My other son with the Chevy 2500 has his own monster box that he uses regularly for work as a Mobile Service Tech for Home Depot. I think his is 4250Amps or something... I am glad you got the batteries sorted - 9 years is quite a run! On my L322 - I have auxiliary ground straps run from the lug under the bonnet to a mounting bolt on the starter. The alternator produces the most power, and the starter uses the most - a direct ground has helped with stress on the alternator and battery - Same conventional battery since 2018. I had a battery that was FUBAR’d after leaving the car parked up for a few months and it couldn’t be saved by a recharge and as it reversed up to the garage door I couldn’t access the battery. In the end I ended up getting a Noco 55 boost pack which fire the car into life enabling me to move the car and access the boot to swap, out the battery. A great bit of kit and now I just leave it charged up in the glove box now for unknown emergencies. 2013 SDV8 4.4 Vogue SE Aintree |

This might be silly, but can you not put power on the two terminals under the bonnet, then open the boot electrically.
