My 2003 L322 TD6 has done 280,000 KLMs and has finally decided it doesn't like reverse gear.
I've changed the transmission fluid and filter but there was no improvement.
All forward gears are fine and for some reason reverse gear in low range pulls like a tractor - its just that when engaging reverse in normal high ratio mode it will move on a flat surface but on the slightest incline it slips.
Anyone experienced the same issue and if so what did you do to rectify?

I am by no means an expert but I believe this uses the same/similar 'box as the BMW E39. It is a common fault and sadly I think it is expensive. Try searching for "E39 no reverse" or along those lines.
