Hi all - first post:

I have a 2004 RangeRover Vogue 4.4V8

Recently, I've had a few issues with the stereo system. I can access all functions and features, but there's no sound from the speakers.
Sound DID return briefly after a few days, then became intermittent and failed again.
Since then, the only sound I've heard from it it was one morning: muffled sound from one speaker - now it's dead again.

I have the little 'on' light on the stereo - and CD changer seems to swap discs etc fine.

One thing I HAVE noticed: Sometimes, when I access the MENU on the stereo it shows DSP (sometimes it's greyed out, sometimes it's selectable, sometimes it's not even there).
What does DSP stand for? Is it Digital Signal Processor (just a guess) - and if so, would this point to a fault with the amp (presuming dsp is just a posh name for the amp).
I have read about unplugging various things from the boot (around the sat nav area) but I haven't messed around yet until I have some more solid information.
I have read that disconnecting the sat nav can cure it as the stereo thinks it's being muted to make way for nav instructions? Sounds a bit flakey to me.

Any help would be be appreciated.

try the connections and if that doesn't work, it could be the amp that's knackered...

The the DSP is the amp as I presumed?

I'll have a mess around with the connections as soon as I get chance.

It would seem to be something loose, as the DSP sometimes shows on the menu, sometimes doesn't, sometimes is greyed out (and can't be selected).

Fingers crossed I guess!!

I'll try to think of a mate with a RR to make a quick swap. I'm guessing my brother's X5 would be essentially the same thing?

the x5 should be the same providing you both have similar screens..

Just had a quick peep at lunchtime.

Some obvious signs of water damage on the smallest plug (a bit of rust and a bit of blue fur).

I'll get the WD40 out later on and see what I can do.

water damage is a common problem..loads on here re that..

I was just reading the first post and was thinking "I wonder if the Amp has suffered the common water ingress problem?"

Have a poke around in that rear left compartment with a torch. It should be dry and dusty in there - which gives sad people like me a great excuse to polish all the module boxes ...ahem, anyway, if it looks like there is or has been water in there you need to cure the problem, not band aid the symptom.

Does anyone here know what the solution is to that common technical bulletin fault? Where exactly is the water ingress coming from in most cases? Is it a failing tailgate seal allowing water to drip behind plastic trim and down into that area or from somewhere else? Discovery 4 HSE

re the solution...i believe there is a plastic cover/shroud that prevents water going onto the electrics but it doesn't solve the water ingress..

I'm just hoping that a good clean out of the plugs will solve the problem, and that the amp isn't .

Nothing on ebay but a repair service for three hundred-and-odd quid.

That's about 50 miles of petrol!!!

fit a water jacket to the stereo, around 7 pounds from land rover and it will protect all your electrics in that rear cubby hole. a lot of RR leak there and its the nav unit that gets most of it but depends on the leak, check where your spare wheel is at the bottom,if its swimming with water then you will have condensation prob as well V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

I have a spare, working DSP as shown in the Diag. You can have it for cost (around 80 quid if i remember.) The only trouble is I am overseas at the moment and won't be back to blighty until mid July. Can you wait that long? If not, I can get a colleague to sort it for me.
