Shudder

I’d be grateful for any advice here if poss. I have an 08 3.6 TDV8 Vogue SE. All I pretty good but there is a bit of transmission shudder on acceleration.
I had a gearbox megaflush done by Bodsy about 6 months ago and transfer case and both diff oils done too. The only comment he made was that there was a little more filings on the plug than normal.
The car pulls well normally but occasionally will shudder on acceleration, especially with the left-right-left of a roundabout. There is no in-car whine.
Should I be worried or is there something preventative I could be doing? I’m not doing mega miles and this car has never towed. It’s done 116k miles in total.

Hi,

Does it do it under load in other circumstances, for example driving uphill?

Long long does it last, is it a bit like driving over a cats eye type feeling?

Try some Dr Tranny addative to see if it helps. It's a temporary fix but may put you on a while until you need to spend £££. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Thank you. It’s a bit weird TBH. I don’t tend to floor the accelerator, it does feel occasionally that the drive is trying to catch up with the engine. It kicks down without shudder and pulls uphill without shudder too.
I can move slowly in a tight turn without shudder but if I do that at, say 30mph entering and then coming out of a roundabout then I briefly feel shudder as I accelerate away.
Where would I put tranny additive? Does it do damage more than carrying on as I am?

It's a small tube of fluid (friction modifier) you squirt in through the gearbox fill plug. Won't damage the gearbox but if it stops the shudder you will know the TC is on it's way out. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

The only time I ever had a shudder on acceleration in my old L322 was when one of the rear brake cylinders had seized.

Good point made by Baz, I had an M62 engined L322 a few years back that did the same thing and that turned out to be a rear brake calliper seizing. Drives:

Easy to check by feeling the wheels after driving it. If it is seized you won't have to drive far before it heats up quite a lot so hold your hand near to feel for any heat before touching it. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
