Early v late L405.

Was wasting time on auto trader and found two SDV8’s for sale that both looked decent enough with similar history, miles and spec. One was a 2013 model, the other 2017.

Only there was about £10k difference in the asking price.

What’s the reality of the real world ownership differences that matter, or warrant the extra spend?

Happy with my L322 but eventually will change it I imagine.

Guessing electrical issues more than mechanical for the early cars? Obviously the tech is different, but different enough?

from comments previously on here, 2017 models are a sweet spot as a lot of issues were fixed (front suspension etc.)

A couple that spring to mind:

ULEZ vs non-ULEZ compliant probably a factor as more cities other than London now have LEZs e.g. Aberdeen, Dundee, Glasgow and Edinburgh up in my neck of the woods.

Also the April '17 onwards cars have significantly lower road tax once 5 years old.

Which ones have the ad blu thing? Is that to be avoided (if you are looking around that’s introductory year) due to extra potential oil dilution?

I'd guess mainly because one of them is four years newer ? The 2017 will likely depreciate £10k over the next four years and be worth roughly what the 2013 is now.

ULEZ is a thing. Euro 6 compliance will attract a significant premium anywhere near London as it'll save £12.50 per day if you live or work inside the zone - that's a worst case of £4,562.50 pa. Even if you don't need to worry about ULEZ, Euro 6 gets you a slightly lower VED band, and then as mentioned above, from 1st April 2017 it all went totally stupid and now (once they're 5 years old) a FFRR pays the same VED as a Prius hybrid Rolling Eyes contradicting what we'd been told since 2001 that it's about taxing the polluter (which tbf, did have some logic).
