Transfer box oil

I’ve just bought a 2012 L322 4.4 TDV8, and decided I would replace all the fluids as a precaution.
I mistakenly ordered some genuine Land Rover TF0870 special transfer box oil. I didn’t realise that this was wrong until after I put it in, but I still haven’t driven it yet.

I thought I’d get the correct oil today, and went to Advanced Factors in Southampton which a couple of reputable Land Rover specialists told me was where they get all their parts from.

They looked up the reg and gave me two bottles of oil, which I assumed was correct, but when I got home, realised was not “correct” either. It’s Febi TF-1 which seems to also be an equivalent of TF0870, rather than TF-0753. I assume this is what all the customers of the various Land Rover specialists are getting when they ask for a transfer box oil change.

Do I risk driving the car for a short time until I can get the right stuff, or is the Febi oil somehow also compatible with both types of transfer box? Or should I not drive it at all until I get the right stuff?

Ravenol DTF1 was the one I filled in when I changed the Transfer Box.

Thanks for the responses.
I managed to get something in the end from Westway Lubricants.
A reasonable price too. £29.99 for two litres delivered next day.
I’ll drain out the wrong stuff and refill with this.

Advanced Factor's website guides the buyer to a TF0870 spec oil for the 4.4 TDV8 RR. Shocked Do they need to be made aware of this (is it an error?), or is TF0870 also ok I wonder?

With reference to the two screenshots I've marked up below, their website advises their part ref ADV903 for the transfer box fluid, which is Febi TF-1. This even says TF0870 in the description (2nd screenshot).

Not sure how this compares to the LR recommendation of TF0753, but I'd personally stick with the LR recommendation, especially after reading the other thread with RRPhil's input (who certainly knows a thing or two about gearboxes).

While digging a little deeper on this (I need Transfer Box oil for my 2014 Disco 4 with 8 speed), I found that Wetsways TF-0870 is suitable where either TF-0870 OR TF-0753 are specified... see below:

Same for the stuff made by Ravenol, says it meets the requirements of both TF-0870 & TF-0753 specifications:

It does seem odd that Westway make a TF-0753 oil and also a TF-0870 oil that is also compatible with 0753.
I wonder how different they really are?

@Norton - I think you've made the correct choice opting for the TF-0753, and if nothing else the TF-0870 you originally put in will act as a good flushing oil!

If you've not dropped it out already, I'd run around the block (in the car of course) with it in before dropping it out!

Funnily enough I have just dropped out the old oil and filled it. I didn’t drive it at all.. but you’re right, I maybe should have. It came out looking totally new.. a waste of good oil. I’m glad I spotted I got it wrong though. We live and learn.
At least I know it will only cost £30 to do it again if I need to!
