Have you checked for wetness in the V between the cylinders and around the oil cooler?

EGR cooler can also be a source of leaks. |

I’ll keep an eye on things but no oil in the water so don’t suspect the egr cooler. The car is still under JLR warranty so if I can’t spot anything and still lose water, I’ll get it booked in for a check. I've had many very small water leaks on my 2014 TDV8. All caused by the o-rings in the water pipes wearing away the plastic spigot they are supposed to seal against. Very hard to find, the main giveaway is the smell.

Your unlikely to see much of a leak below on the ground due to the drip tray below the engine. So worth keeping an eye on it. |

Keep an eye on the pipework further back towards the rear passenger compartment as there are coolant pipes running back to the rear HVAC... |

Thankjs guys. I'm hoping the loose cap was the culprit. I'll be checking daily for the next few weeks. It's still under the JLR warranty so at worst it'll end up in the dealers for resolution

Still leaking/losing coolant and dealer also thinks it maybe the EGR cooler. Your comment maybe the winner! I'll keep you informed Regards Mark L405 2016 4.4SDV8 Autobiography Corris Grey/Pimento - Current L322 2011 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE Alaska White/Charcoal - Gone and lots of other none LR stuff….. |

Well, having thought some more, the dealer has suggested I don’t drive the RR. Think the term he used was “you don’t want to cook the engine”. His first suggestion was to look at the egr cooler - had issues here with BMWs in the past so it might be the culprit? Car only has 42k miles, fully serviced and still under full JLR warranty

Only thing I'd say is if it were the EGR cooler, I'd expect to have exhaust fumes in the cooling system, which can easily be tested by a dye test.
