2011 4.4 TDV8 Oil Leak

Ok have just replaced the two O-Rings on the oil cooler pipe they had definitely failed and leaking oil.
My question is having removed top engine cover for access its sodden with oil and top of engine has loads of oil visible.
Could this mean I have an oil cooler problem or can the oil leaking from the oil cooler pipe end up being blown up the top of the engine as well as down the back ?
I have checked coolant expansion bottle and no oil contamination present.
I know there are two oil cooler gaskets if one or both fail does that always mean oil contamination in the coolant ?
Have road tested and definitely no oil leaking from the oil pipe now.
Any ideas much appreciated.

I had an oil leak on my 2012 Westie and I just decided to change it all, the O rings, the oil coller and gave the whole place a clean. I no longer have a leak. The gasket on the oil cooler gets compressed in certain parts and leaks a fair bit..

I went for a Nissens cooler, I think it was €220 or something like that and it was well worth it. You can just replace the gaskets if you have the patients. Current yokes

Consensus is once you have gone to the trouble of removing the cooler it's best to replace it rather then just the gaskets as they are prone to warping and cracks which means you have to do the job again. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I had to also change the rocker cover gaskets on both banks of the TDV8, one was worse than the other, but whilst we did the tiny o rings (behind the oil cooler ) , and the two oil cooler gaskets, and a few other things, we also replaced the rocker cover gaskets, oil leak gone Smile

Whilst doing that I ran down to Colchester Fuel Injection and got the 8 injectors checked over, one was really out of tolerance, so it was replaced, my car is approaching 180,000 miles, so not only has the oil leak stopped, and everything given a good clean, but it is running really nicely and seems to have a little bit more repsonse at the same time !

I have heard of leaks from the top of the oil pump, there is a small screw that can come loose. Apparently difficult to reach but a simple fix.

Post on this page by nino-nino explains it, I am going to have a look at it myself this evening as I still have an oil leak somewhere even after having the cooler and o-rings done. Will feedback if I find anything.

Also noticed some oil on this hose, the hose seems ok though so think its coming from above. I think this goes to the oil cooler? Front right hand side of the engine.
