I can drive perfectly well for months without needing to use more than 2500rpm. Others say boot it everytime you take it out and you will not get a cloud as there is no buildup. Recent evidence suggests the oil filter housing oil release valve is the real culprit and not the oil drain for the turbo so do a search on this as the fix is easy. Difficult to justify spending big money getting the 'official' fix when it's just a cosmetic issue that doesn't effect the cars running. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

As above, check the oil filter housing valve. Filter needs to be removed first

Just a hypothetical question - if it could potentially be the oil filter housing, and the SDV8 in the L405 not suffering this issue, I don't see why you couldn't retrofit the SDV8 filter housing to the TDV8? 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8 |

An alternative to “booting it” is to use the command shift paddles to change down until the revs go over 2500. It can be done on any reasonable A road. I’d suggest doing this once every couple weeks to spin up the second turbo and lube the seals. If after a couple of months you still get smoke ( and you’ve done the oil filter housing oil release valve ) then consider the drain mod… I understand the drain mod is quite expensive to do. GlenRands near Liphook have a good reputation in the Hampshire area it may be worth discussing with them. TDV8 4.4 2012 |
