Reverse camera woes

Hi all,
Car is a 2007 3.6 td v8.
My reverse view camera hasn't worked for years. I have now tried to replace it with a generic unit, but it turns out that no voltage is making it to the camera. I'm getting only a fraction of a volt. Does anyone know where the power feed originates and if I should be seeing full battery voltage on the two-pin connector with engine running and reverse engaged?

Thanks!
Henrik

Exact same problem last week with me, thought just a new Chinese camera would sort it, same as last time, no joy this time 🙄

I reckon its the head unit most system at fault, fuse fine, no power to camera, have decided to give up on it.....

Interesting if anyone has a fix?

It's actually quite easy to splice into the feed and add a generic aftermarket unit which you can Tigerseal/Sikaflex in a similar location to the existing camera. You'll also find you get better quality, despite the low resolution screen. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Yes, that's what I was trying to do, but it turns out I don't have power. It's probably a broken wire, but to find the fault without pulling half the car apart, I hope to find out where that feed is coming from.

Thanks

I'm actually working on that right now. I found the correct wire in the bundle under the D-pillar, so I'll splice in there.

Nope, that didn't work.
I verified that I have power to the camera, but there's not a flicker of life on the screen. It could be that my China camera is a dud, but most likely I have a problem at the head unit. It seems strange that I would have multiple faults, but it's not unheard of.

Thanks,
Henrik
