2006 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Bonatti Grey

Cheers mate. I found it quite relaxing and therapeutic to be just left on my own and fix it all up.

Anyways next part of this car was to sort the hand brake. As we all know the rear shields are not the best design so I modified it slightly too make it work easier

Think the shoes was up for renewal very soon

Sure the hand brake locating pins are supposed too be in here. Think answers why my handbrake never really worked all that well.

Pretty much fell apart but think it's done well

New one matched up to it but how too fit it

Go to b&q and pick up 4 mounting brackets, chop them in half and use them too drill 4 holes in. 2 on the top and 2 on the bottom

Grab an angle grinder and cut it straight through the middle and wince at it while you cut up a brand new brake shield

Next job fit them to the hub, get a pop rivet gun and get your metal brackets into place

Give them a quick coat of rust proof paint. Would normally go for black but no ones gonna see it so figured colour don't matter

And that's it all done. Run out of time to adjust it properly but I'm going to do that later on today when I can jack it up and do both sides in one go

Haven't up dated this for a while.

Had all the arches done at a cost of 1800 recently, serviced the car with new plugs and oils all round. Car was running pretty well, passed its mot with only a 2 advisories being tyres and the body work. Not bad for 198000 car.

Dropped the subaru off to the garage to get that sorted. Took my daughter for lunch and met up with mum

Driving home with lil one in the car and every parents worst nightmare

Electrical fire!!!! Ripped my shirt off in that process and threw it over lil ones head so stop any smoke getting too her. Car was thrown up the kerb at 25mph so steering is ermmm a bit wonky now 😆 🤣 😂.

Straight too the back and got lil one out n then got on the phone too the brigade. Luckily we was 100 yards from the station but we was also out side a petrol station.

6 hours later, finally made it home.

First experience of this ever happening too myself in 21 years of driving legally. Wasn't phased by it as an adult but as a parent I was honestly bricking it.

Never mind. Time too see what insurance company is gonna do now I guess.

Maybe I'll go for another range rover. Ultimately depends on the local elections as it will have to be a l322 4.4tdv8 or a l322 5.0sc but one occurs £12.50 daily charge

Yea we both good. Got an ear bashing of her mum for trying too save the car but after about 2 mins kinda just realised its done. Sub officer from the brigade apologised for the damage this was going too create and said its gonna be a write off once they finished so if I don't wanna be hurt walk away now

Both safe n that's all I care about. Creates a headache as now I can't do much with the subaru as it's on the trailer etc but it's only money

That's a bit of luck right there given all the work you've done to it!

Having had my old P38 catch fire spectacularly, it's not a nice thing to go through!

The main thing is that you and your family are ok though, cars can be replaced.

Yea we are both ok, little lottie doesn't seem too bothered from it. Initially she was a bit upset from being dragged out the car but she's happy enough now.

Yea I mean I've probably put in around £3k lately to the car. Was due too go in next week for paint correction and a new set of general grabbers so in a way its saved me a bit of money.

Still gives me a reason too join the 5.0 supercharged club. Told my mum that n she just sat there shaking her head at me. She reckons the 4.2 was quick enough.

Still been on a bit of a spending spree. Bought littlen a new car seat.
Booked golf in for mapping and o2 delete
Then find out I've got a puncture on the golf. Into the tyre shop and they said it's a whole new tyre? Ermmmm whys that

Back too halfords as the guy said seen as the tyre is only a month or too old go back and see them. You might be able too claim it back. Go into halfords and they have a look. Surprisingly enough they accepted full responsibility saying it shouldn't have even been allowed too leave like that due too high risk of a blow out.

So looks like I'm on the bike now then for a few days 😆 🤣 😂

Well that's officially the end of the car.

Fire damage made it not suitable for repair however the assesor has deemed it to be a cat B write off so can't even get any parts of from it like the tow bar etc

Still on the other hand it's been valued at £4.5k. Not bad for a car with 196000 miles on it so I've accepted that straight away.

Looked on my insurance policy n realised it had the agreed value on it as well so I'm more then happy.

Sadly no replacement range rover for me though as this money will go towards the house deposit

However once that's sorted then it will be time too get an l322 5.0 sc version

So I'll be back in the near future
