I took delivery of the armature a few weeks ago and just got it out of the box this morning to see how it fitted, it seems very simple enough, but......it's heavy, the bolts are big and will need a bit of leverage to undo them etc. I'm no mechanic so I guess my pair of tweezers and toffee hammer won't do the job. Is it worth getting a garage to do it? LR want 2 hours labour, that's over £200 for fitting a chunck of metal...no technical experience and qualifications required....or buy a decent socket set and torque wrench?

Has anyone tackled the job? Current MY2020

depends how competent mechanic you are..i gather you would have to remove the bumper first then ,with help, offer up the armature and bolt on..

I had my towbar off a couple of weeks ago, simple enough job.

You need to remove the back bumper and drop the rear exhaust. To drop the exhaust just remove the rubber connectors and don't forget to remove the one half way towards the front of the vehicle to allow it to drop without damaging.

I did mine yesterday. The bolts holding the bumper support on are tight so you'll need a longish bar to get good leverage, or an air tool. The rearmost mount bolts are recessed so you'll need an extension bar as well. To manage the weight of the armature, just use a trolley jack in the middle to lift it into place. This makes positioning it very easy and a one man job. I also supported the exhaust with a small bottle jack and wooden block to stop it dropping down and stressing joints further back.

I needed an air gun to get the four bolts undone but apart from that the whole job is very much DIY Thumbs Up

Dealer wants 2 hours but I would allow 3 for DIY just in case Wink
