Just looking to check my drains by way of preventative maintenance (hopefully).

Struggling to find the upper drain holes however. The parts diagram posted a while back by Stan was helpful in showing rough location in the region above the B pillar.

With the sunroof fully open, are the drains still under a section of the glass roof?

I can see what look like drain holes however they are within an inner channel. I’m guessing they can’t be there however as that channel is dry, unlike a damp outer channel.

Does anyone have a photo of the drain location from above please?

Yes you can, open the sunroof fully stand on centre console and look down into channel between sunroof and body about 1inch behind line of sunroof when opened, you can pop the trim off and its very visible, you might need a torch depending on light. I wonder actually if you could seal them up and let gravity do the rest when you drive off?

Regards fixed pano roof, i reckon you need to pull the trim and check as i bet you too have drain points, easy 2min check just pop off trim on roof, it pops back in place

I’ve really struggled to find and test the sunroof drain holes - couldn’t see any photos anywhere online which helped. Plenty of video and photo stuff of rusted away pipes further in the car.

So, I had a go investigating. The easiest way I found was to remove the black trim which runs the full length of the sunroof. It’s pretty easy to pop off with a trim removal tool or something similar non-metallic. The drain hole is quite a bit further back from a fully open sunroof than just one inch, so I don’t really see how the drains can be accessed without removing the trim.

I’ve attached a photo from above the car showing the location of the RH drain.

The next bit for me was 50% good. One of the drains was clear but the other not. I tried a bit of rodding with a “sunroof drain cleaning tool” but it would not go down the tube any further than about 18”. Just thinking about my next steps, but had a chat with my Indy and he suggested sorting from inside the car - at least that way I’ll be able to see if there’s a rust problem - current or potential.

What this exercise did show me is that it’s a pretty straightforward job to pop the roof trims on each side and clear / make sure the drains are clear as a regular DIY maintenance job.

Holey Moley I soo wanted a sliding pano roof when I went looking for my RR. I was a little disapoointed when I went with a fixed one on a vogue but as Gremlin says there's already way to much to worry about without two tiny holes ruining your day
