Transmission knocking at low speed

Over the last couple of months A knocking has developed when full lock turning slowly either left or right.
I first thought it would be the propshaft centre bearing or at worst maybe the propshaft universal joints. However my local indy suggests its actually coming from the transfer box. Not sure how he deduced this but he seemed quite certain.

I've now booked it into my MD for their assessment (im still under full approved warranty) and hopefully I dont get the usual "....well unfortunately its just wear and tear and not covered"

Does anyone have any experience of a failing transfer box (the vehicle has done 94k)? 2015 Range Rover L405 SDV8 AB Corris grey

The knocking could actually be an inner or outer driveshaft joint, given you only experience this when turning? 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Thanks Gary. The knock can be felt at the drivers left hand hip rather than an outer corner though I accept it’s very difficult to tell while driving such a well insulated vehicle. 2015 Range Rover L405 SDV8 AB Corris grey

I'm sure there is something on the forum that says to do a double flush on the transferbox.

I have the same problem, MD did a double flush on the rear diff, but no joy changed the rear diff, under warranty.

Which was on backorder for six weeks so a hire car as a replacement (Warranty paid)
I have been driving around with the MD tec to pinpoint the problem,

The trouble is booking it in for the work which has taken months for a time slot.

I first complained about a year ago and still not sorted out. 2017 SDV8 4.4 silicon silver AB

Interesting comment on lead times for booking into MD. Earliest they could book me in was a month from now! I will update once I get the MD diagnosis 2015 Range Rover L405 SDV8 AB Corris grey

There is an active TSB about this issue and as said above, a double flush of the transfer box and new software should fix it...

We have done loads of these... Thumbs Up

Changed my transfer case and diff oils and it cured it on mine.

Dead easy job to do as well if you have an oil pump.

Even I stayed clean!
