Hi Guys, sorry to resurrect this thread but your combined knowledge is invaluable to RR newbies....

My question is can the system & fluids be effectively flushed / renewed .. ?

If the valve block is identified a requiring replacement, what is the likely actual failure .. ? Blocked / stuck components ..? Are there any moving parts in the valve block ?

My RR has just been diagnosed as requiring replacement and I really would like to know what the real issue is ... JLR just replace parts when it could possibly be as simple as a flush ?

or am I being a bit sceptical ? either way, if I replace the valve block I am making sure i get the old one to tear apart ..!

but this is far from the full bleed procedure which is apparently required as outlined in the workshop manual. An even then ... that required special diagnostic program routines to run for the circuits to work through potential air bubbles. Tools like the IID tool dont offer the bleed procedure as yet. Others who have replaced the pipes themselves will be better informed.

Valve black failure would to either be a lack of roll (valves stuck closed ), or harshness and no roll ( valves stuck closed ) as I understand it. V8 or else ...

Thanks guys for the replies , I found the manual in th Wiki and had a good read through this pm … and I agree the technicalities of the operation would indicate a complete flush would probably not viable or be considered by LR . More than likely a full fill of the system and bleed thru would be the method.
So that’s off the table now I suppose.
Although I requested the valve block is retained , it hadn’t crossed my mind that it might be an exchange unit but can understand that it would be now that you have raised this point, so I shall not bother paying a surcharge to satisfy my curiosity this time.
I am however , quite impressed with the system functionality ( if it were working correctly!)… having read the system detail , it was an extended coffee break read but one I defiantly enjoyed….. now just to get it back working …. Damn I miss the beast ….!

I wanted to change all the fluids in my L405, was stumped that the ACE system had no drain.

I have been sucking the oil out of the header tank once every 6 months and refilling, I figured over a couple of years this would result in a 75% refresh at least.

There are two bleed nipples on each actuator, you can change the fluid with them, they are a pig to get to though....  Pete

Do all SDV8’s have this system?

I'm not sure - sadly, no SDV8 for us here in the states.
