Can anybody tell how easy it is and how to top a TDV8 Autobox in case I ever need to do this?

Gaz, I think they're supposedly sealed for life. There isn't a filler tube anyway, not like the good old days.

Not had mine on the ramp yet but there must be a filler plug on the side of the box somewhere so it can be filled when new.

Plug should be on the side of the gearbox, make sure the box is up to the correct temperature and keep the engine running when you remove the plug and top it up. If you do not run the engine when removing the plug you will get covered in ATF

Yes, get the proper fluid from LR

So would I be right in saying that if you are doing an oil change on the box, when you replace the pan and add oil up to the filler level that is enough to run the engine to allow you to top the box up ????

Fill up the box until the ATF is just running out of the plug hole, then start the engine and top up again, then bring the fluid up to the desired temperature and top up until the ATF has stopped running out of the plug hole, replace the plug and the job's a good-un.

Remember too much fluid is as bad as too little

Manual does not list correct Transmission Fluid for Gearbox. Only states "Filled for Life".

Can somebody post the correct Fluid please?

Is it ESSO LT 71141 trans fluid or are there other brand of the same viscosity?

Also is "Dexron 111" unsuitable (Bottle say suitable for ZF boxes)

OK so my Comma AQ3 Dextron 111 should be fine if I ever needed to top up a box.

No needs at present but you never know.
