Importance of Mileage L405

Afternoon all, this is my first post on the forum and I'll introduce myself properly once I (potentially) buy my first L405 so please bear with me!

I'm wondering how you guys think about mileage on used RRs. I currently have a 2012 Autobiography Black which I bought with 35k miles and am about to sell with 75k on it. I've always serviced it, and I've had no trouble from her at all other than the Adaptive Suspension error which I fixed in 15 minutes with a soldering iron.

I'm now thinking of buying an L405 HSE. I normally look for less than 40k on any car I buy, but she has 72k. She is a great example, and lots of extra toys, so I'm wondering how much mileage really matters. It's the 3.0L V6 model.

Key point is she has had 1 owner from new, and the SH is full JLR every 12 months also from new, without fail. No major repairs or replacements. The upholstery on the drivers seat is not worn at all, which tells me she's probably done a lot of motorway miles rather than commuting.

Would that mileage on an L405 bother anyone? We all know the horror stories, but we also know most people don't look after the RRs properly which is the road to hell.

Thanks for any comments, I am pletty close to pulling the trigger as the price is fair, and of course comes with a solid 12-month warranty.

Thanks, Jock.

Do it, they wear their miles incredibly well if looked after. My view on the cars with more miles on, especially a FFRR, if it's fit enough to do the miles, it cant have had too many long layups in a garage.

I'm 10 months into my first FFRR, loving it and have done 17k miles so far. First time FFRR owner

high mileage is never an issue and it always bugs me that garages want to charge a premium for a low miler when all it offers is slightly less wear on the seats.

If I were you I'd save the £10-20k extra you're going to pay for an L405 and keep the L322. That's a lot of skiing holidays, small boat etc. for 'free". Mr. Green

History tells us low mileage cars can be a nightmare, I have more issues with my 4 sports cars that do less than 500miles each a year than my L405/L460 that do thousands every year. The key to everything is maintenance in my view.

Yes, I hear you, but the missus *needs* a new motor as her Japanese commuter is now knackered after 7 years faithful service. Now... I could just buy her a new motor and keep the L322, shelling out cash for her wagon.

Or... I can trade the L322 in (he's offered me a very good price) against her new motor, and since she understands I cannot be without a Ranger, she is letting me get the L405.

You see what I did there? Very Happy

At the risk of incurring the wrath of the V6 fan club, I take it you have done your research on the alleged V6 Crank problem?

Point 1, The V8 gets all the stability control gubbins and the V6 does not! This makes a fair amount of rear seat passengers travel sick... Point 2, as said above, the V6 seams to have more than its fair share of catastrophic failures! Point 3, why do you want an HSE? It's a base model! You'll have lots of blank switches, like the ford Orion's & Cavalier's back in the day lol... But seriously,,, Worth thinking about spec! You'll be coming out of an AB Black and into an HSE! Rolling Eyes Whistle Thumbs Up

Hi All, slight off track…I am after the ‘SDV8’ badge. From the above picture posted I can order 16098G or 16098H in order to get the badge with other decals.

But I have tried to search for them number in google but no luck…I guess there must be some more numbers in front??

Thanks .

I have no idea why I said that. It’s a Vogue SE which is a decent spec for sure. I think only the Autobiography and some limited editions are higher.

And of course the L405 does represent an advance on the L322 I had thanks to the passage of time.

Sorry for the confusion. I have been medically diagnosed with TTS … that’s terminal Censored syndrome.

See below. Case of severe TTS. It’s a Vogue SE.
