If here in Oz I would definitely say sap or gum from a tree, or pollen etc from some flowering tree. Not sure in the UK, but that's what it looks like to me !

My guess would be mould spores that settle on the car, they stay damp and grow, then it rains and washes them away a bit leaving the tails.... Pete

We have a log burner, far from cars but not used whilst away. Neighbour just had one fitted but hadn’t used it yet.

neighbours bonfire! The prat near me (a builder) was burning plastic waste from his business along with garden waste it gets just high enough to clear the fence, cools and falls out all over the drive. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue |

We get this on cars and the caravan when they're not washed for a while too.
