Rather than the whole 3D printing thing... I am a woodworker...

I have an offer in on this - it looks like it even matches my Shadow Walnut package.
Either cut just the filler, or possibly just make the straight cut and use the whole back half.
Stain the ragged edge to match - maybe use the CNC to etch Range Rover...

Dodgy or no?

If it matches, i think it'd look very good - I wouldn't bother with the CNC cutting personally, I know it's a Range Rover!

Gentlemen (and Ladies?),
I was looking at the pic of MY16 console posted by aljo... and thought Oh - that red part must be the 'emergency taking it out of Park' thing - no idea what it is really called... No idea how to find out how to use it in the owner's manual...

I know you pop the bottom of the cupholders out and you can get to...

you pop the bottom of the cupholders out... pop the cupholders out!!!

You can gain access to kind of poke around down there without cracking the console! So I did.
The little red circle on aljo's pic is about where I measured it.

I reached around with my fingers and there are deeper parts and 'beams' running through - I think 125mm from the 'deck' to the top of the beams is what we are working with. I don't have a tiny probe camera... it looks like the red thing is at the back 1/3 of the front cup holder which is about where the spinny knob is... Blue square should be about where the L494 Lever will sit and ti looks to be a bit deeper.

Tilting the L494 lever back - it is about 120mm to the top of the bezel... not a lot of depth to work with if it bottoms out at 125mm. The L494 console must be deeper (At least where the shifter lives).




Subframe should be here tomorrow and the top of the L494 console here on Saturday...

@Phoenix - please remember I have more balls than brains... can you put the EXACT link for the Pins to use in the Scab? I know you said MQS (something) .63X.63 - but I can't find any that match that.

Some time in the shop between carving High School Football Senior gifts...

There is a good chance that I will not win a Nobel Prize in Soldering...
But I made a cocktail, steeled my nerves and said a prayer... I used the 18ga wire that I bought and it was Yuuuuge compared to the L494 Loom. Soldering paste and rosin core solder. The L494 harness must have been 22ga... The 18ga was even larger than the Hot and Ground/earth in Pins 10 and 1.
I guess if you are making 100,000 of these a year - that extra copper adds up!

After heat shrinking each lead, I shrunk them all together in about 3 places. I have 10-12" to play with on the Pins/Scab.

Since I did not have dual color wire - I made my own by running a Sharpie down the wire. I also re-twisted the HS CAN pair. Pins to go and we have our pigtail! 2006 L322 HSE LUX 4.4NA Jag V8 Buckingham Blue/Ivory - 'Col Reb'

Back in the Mid-90's I had a 'Non-Addressable" Cable Box... I was watching MMA before it was called MMA - not so much anymore, so I will take your word for it...

The Rover community - between videos and message board posts - has taught me so much and saved me so much money...
I am just trying to give back. It is not entirely altruistic - nothing ever is...
I really, really don't like the spinny knob. Also, for (probably) a short time, I will have the only L405 "In the Known Universe" with a proper gear lever.
I will be honest, the Narcissist in me kind of likes that.

So more details from this afternoon/Evening...
LaShonda the Mail Lady brought us our L494 Sub Frame... some of the measurements are difficult - but here it goes:
Pic off eBay - it is smaller than I imagined... also very dense plastic - this thing has some ass to it.


Fastened to a piece of hard maple - the Large Philips Head is the reference point

The Lever Module extends below the Sub Frame... We may end up cutting plastic in the console...



Still hoping for an 'idiot-proof' L405 Scab Male Pin link...
The Pins and the L494 Shadow Walnut Console lid are the only parts I think I am lacking...

We *may* crack the console before Thanksgiving (Nov 23) - Stay Tuned! Same Bat Channel, Same Bat Time!

Update on the electrical connector - of sorts....
Of the four suppliers contacted, three have replied with 'contact the vehicle manufacturer' which is a response I've come across before - essentially it means the item is 'on restricted supply' - i.e. to be supplied by the vehicle manufacturer to their dealer network only. Assuming it's used with male pins by JLR, then a very in-depth browse through the electrical libraries might find a part number to order...

Until then, the contact pin part numbers from Mercedes-Benz are A0325453928 (MQS 0.5-0.75mm2)
Pig-tails with seals A0005404505 They may be available elsewhere but those are the only ones I can say are 100% correct.

The problem is, the connector housing isn't visible within Microcat so parts suppliers won't be able to source without a valid JLR part number. The connector has been identified as a TE connector from the OEM markings, but the OEM won't release the mating connector to end users or suppliers as they're under contract to JLR and possibly others. It may well be used as an in-line connector but the electrical libraries would have to be gone through page-by-page to identify the repair kit part number - if it exists.

Good Googlie Mooglie! They are proud of these little Censored ... Cheapest on this side of the pond seems to be about(10X)$3.50/EA tiny Pin!!! another $15 in shipping and that is more than paid for the female Pigtail, The Scab and bezel all together!- for that, I may file down the pins I have to 'Breadboard' this...

I have been at a client the past 2 days, but LaShonda brought us the RRSport Console... It is piano black - not shadow walnut... but I can work with that.

For my next project... Well - I need to replace the fan on my HUD Unit... But after that, I am going to fit a breathalyzer to my eBay account... Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, JDGeorgia and eBay/Amazon are not a good fit. I ended up with a dual view endoscope...

My experience with TE connectors is that if a mating connector existed then it would be referenced with the connector information. An example is the connector used for the suspension/chassis module for which no mating connector is made, except that I had a batch made using a cut-up suspension module header as a pattern because I needed the mating connectors for 2 of the 5 versions used with that header for my Llams kits. Futhermore if a special version for a specific end-user exists then it can only be purchased with written approval of that end user even though listed on the TE website, but the standard version can be purchased by any TE account customer. A local loom manufacturer was able to purchase connectors for my Jeep kits that don't have the Chrystler/Mercedes part number on them but are otherwise identical.
