L322 " air suspension Slow to Rise"

Good evening chaps.
I have a tremendous 4.2 SC L322 2006 model.
My air suspension is" slow to rise". I've checked all joints,there are no leaks.
I've serviced the dryer assembly all good, but I believe the problem is the compressor unit.
It is a AMK unit, it is working and seems to run a lot of the time, but I suspect the piston rings are tired.
now although there are rebuild kits available, I'm led to believe they are very difficult to fit and the chance of damaging it is high.
So my questions are

1, can the Hitachi unit replace the AMK and has anybody actually done it and what's involved.
2, has anyone successfully repaired the AMK unit.
3, any other options
I'm not interested in coil over conversion
If I have to get an AMK unit I will I'd just rather look at viable options before I shell out £5-600.

If the compressor is running for long periods l would be inclined to check the air bags for potential leaks particularly in the highest setting. The compressor shouldn’t run very much at all.

Thanks for the reply, the air bags are good no leaks.
If I go to high setting it takes a while with the message slow to rise, goes down ok.

Have you checked air tank ? might have a small hole in it?

Internal leak on the compressor is another possibility.

Hi guys
Ok I think we're losing what I was asking.
I'm pretty sure it's the compressor that's at fault.
My question was has anybody fitted an alternative pump ie not AMK?
I don't mind getting an original unit but the Hitachi version is more rebuildable if that makes sense.
There are NO leaks anywhere on the air suspension system.
So if you can or have done this conversion please let me know.
I don't want to use the Chinese copies which I'm told are crap, but not nobody who has told me this has actually used 1.
Thanks for the replies, and if anyone has a very good AMK unit let me know.

AFAIK you can swop between them using the GAP IID tool. Also look at reconditioned ones? 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Are you sure it’s the compressor rather than a bag or line with a weep?
It is highly unusual for a compressor to fail internally. 👍🏻

This happened to me years ago on my 2006 4.4NA HSE Lux - it ran all the time because the internals were tired.
Let's say that a normal piston stroke is 5 CC... I was maybe getting 2 CC per stroke because the rest was blowing past the worn nylon ring. I rebuilt it with a kit - that lasted maybe another 3 or 4 years and I ended up just replacing it. It was done at an Indie shop... so I am not sure what model I have now. That was 3 or 4 years ago and no issues. It is pricey - but if you are going to keep the truck, it is worth it.

My 2007 4.2 SC suffered the same slow to rise messages. It turned out to be a pin hole in one of the air bags and a worn out Hitachi pump.
They fitted the new bag and changed out the pump for a new AMK one, the fault still showed so they had to download the compatible software for the AMK pump. Apparently you can't just change over pump makes without pairing with the correct software?
