I’ll try and link to his post and video on Facebook. In essence, the pump wears and can’t suck the oil quick enough out of the turbo drain sump so it then backs up.
It worked for him so definitely worth a try for others. 👍😎

Mine smoked like james bonds aston when booted, it would last for about 20 seconds it was quite embarassing cars would disapear when I looked out the mirror. I don't have the oil drain mod but was thinking of doing it. I spotted DrRobs post and found a genuine brand new vacuum pump on ebay for £200, I thought it was worth a punt before going £1000 on the drain mod. I fitted the vacuum pump 2 weeks ago and I can happily say I have no more smoke. I plan to strip the old one down to see if I can work out why it failed. My thanks to DrRob for pointing out the Facebook suggestion. Also own a 1976 Land Rover 101 3.5 V8.
Previously owned 1991 Range Rover Vogue 3.9 V8.

I note that there's a later part number LR083155 for the pump that suits all 4.4s but that the original part number LR022758 isn't superseding to the later number when the original number is searched for. Microcat 2012 shows the MY13 L405 as having the original part number.

It looks like I had the last one it was the later part number LR083155 that I purchased. The company was Parks Motor Group.

Hi Guys,
I have same smoke issue with my tdv8, replaced the pump, but it didnt cure the problem. I doubt about turbo drain mod as it was working fine then new. Anything to check ? I also run 5w50 oil instead of 5w30 maybe what could be an issue, but somehow hard to believe

Whip your oil filter out and see if the valve is on it's post correctly and not loose in the bottom.

I'm checking mine at next oil change. May also account for the oil light on cold start when parked on a slope. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I didn’t know it served a valve function, I’ve always just thought it was a tensioner spring for the oil filter element, so will also be paying more attention to it every oil change.

How many people actually look down there let alone knew this existed as you have to climb on the engine or use a mirror. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I do as well, because it's surprising how much more dirty oil you can get out with a syringe and a tube. That's how I spotted my 'spring valve' was loose.
