Engine stops

Twice recently I have been travelling very slowly/coasting went to move on, the engine has stopped. It takes about three tries to get it going again. Then it’s ok. No problems at speed. Also couple of “reduced performance mode” . This is immediately on starting, turn it off, 30 seconds later all normal. All very odd. My great Indy says he’s never heard of the engine stopping thing. He’s checking the fault codes on Tuesday. 2013 SDV8 4.4 SE Luxor.

This may explain it: - LTB01083

Engine Hesitation/Stall At Low Vehicle Speed

A customer may express a concern that at low vehicle speed the engine hesitates or stumbles. In some circumstances as a result of the low vehicle speed the customer may report that the hesitation or stumble has resulted in the engine stalling. The engine will restart by cycling the ignition.
If the engine has stalled the customer may also express a concern that:
• The Touchscreen has changed and is now displaying the 4x4i – Terrain response/4x4 information.
• 'D' is flashing on the Transmission Control Switch (TCS) and Instrument Cluster (IC).
• The charge warning indicator is illuminated.

A technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0088-17 (Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too High - Circuit voltage above threshold) stored in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

CAUSE:
Intermittent electrical connection of the fuel pressure sensor wiring harness.

I have read all the LR Technical Bulletin. I see that the replacement loom section may be the better way to go.
It is part number LR085463.
I can't currently locate anyone who has this part in stock. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Any idea of price. 2013 SDV8 4.4 SE Luxor.

I couldn’t locate the part either. So I disassembled the upper (easily assessable) connector and doused it in Servisol Switch and Contact cleaner.

So far, so good …..

Correct repair is a new electrical connector for the rail pressure sensor, which comes with a length of wiring to remove the connector at the top of the cam cover Thumbs Up

Thanks Mike, that’s exactly what my Indy said. Britpart.have them, unlike LR. So as soon as it comes, it will be fitted. 2013 SDV8 4.4 SE Luxor.

Thank you very much for that explanation, my L405 is behaving in exactly that way.
I have sent a copy of your information to my Range Rover man and I hope to get everything sorted in the next few days.
