Amazing job and write-up!

By the sound of it, a complete upgrade is out of the question for me so....with a budget of EUR/GBP/USD 1.000 what do I upgrade to get most bang for the buck? RR Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - 11

Spain 2011 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

Reading this (excellent) post, I wonder how much of a noticeable difference would be had just from upgrading those front door speakers to something better (perhaps closer to the quality of the Logic7D speakers).

For me I find the Logic7 to be a bit muddy in the mids, which is a bit disappointing - HD audio was the only option I wanted that the car I found didn't have Sad

I think this might be something to add to my list of mods, the plastic welding doesn't put me off too much, I could probably 3d print some mounts to suit whatever speakers I swapped the originals for... Hmm, ideas! Smile

Hi there and congrats on this.... I am VERY curious to hear about your upgrade to get the RSE to use something other than the DVD?????? I have been looking for something better and cannot find it.

thanks

Alex

[quote="triphase"]So I (finally) finished this job (including adding full H.265 media capability for RSE to replace the antique DVD player, but thats for another thread lol). Yes it works. No, it was NOT easy. Yes, it was definitely worth it (to me). But knowing what I know now, I probably would not have done this in the first place (it was a LOT of work). I would charge someone thousands of dollars in labor if they asked me to do this again. That being said, here is some free advice. 2008 HSE B. Grey

I've just done the speaker upgrade as described by Triphase. Yesterday my drivers door sub started making a horrible noise and then I found this thread. I went looking for replacements this morning. It is a very easy upgrade, you need the speaker and the plastic ring it mounts onto. Plugs in easily. Nice difference to the sound. I always thought my 4.2SC didnt sound as good as my D4 with the logic 7 system. Its much closer now

Hi, not sure if you still need it, but I’ve just purchased one, the details on the sub are:
AH42-18808-CA
58000201
04012-B0081
Hope this helps! It’s actually available from Land Rover classic parts for not to much!

Hi, I am a bit confused about the sub woofer.
I have a 2012 Westminster with the hd system and the sub woofer needs replacing. I am aware that the sub is different on the hd system.
I went on the classic parts website and there doesn’t seem any difference between the sub woofer standard and hd.
I also don't understand those numbers that you put on your post. They don’t seem to correspond to any part numbers or am I missing something?
Can you put me on the right track please.
Many thanks

Looking at the workshop manual screenshot on page 1 of this thread, it looks like the sub is the same.

There are no extra speakers “as such” just better 2 axial speakers in the same location, so they count them as 2 not one.

I need to check the part number with NckBrn!

Looking at the systems there seem to be 3 versions, in the uk anyway! There is the ‘base’ HK, which is what I have in the car currently, then logic 7, then HD. On the base and HD the sub is driven by the main amp, on the logic 7 the sub has its own amp (attached to the housing).
The numbers I posted are from the label on the new sub.
I haven’t picked it up yet, but can compare it when I do to the ‘base’ sub that I currently have.

I need to try and work out the wiring for the amp, as the plugs are different to the base/logic 7. The do however look the same as the Jaguar/range rover amps with either 12 or 19 speakers. I’ll let you know how I get on!

Just to add, from what I can see in the parts catalogue the part number for the HD state
Is LR018046, where as as the ‘basic’ system i have is XQA500090. However I haven’t taken my one out to check!

Thanks for the info.It now makes sense, if there are 3 types.
Mine is plonking away in the back but sometimes sounds terrible so I assume it is damaged. I will order one in the New Year.
