2010-2012 Reversing Camera Upgrade

Hi Folks,
I don’t know if this of interest to anyone but it may be of use to someone.

I have had trouble with my 2011 L322 reversing camera which basically has failed and after some research I found the 2010-2012 models had a different camera and the only option seemed to be an OE camera at OMG money, after some more research I found an auto electrician who was willing to try and upgrade the camera with a better quality more reliable one, and he’s completed the work today and has done a fantastic job, the camera is brilliant now and so clear. His name is Jason and he’s at JVS Auto Solutions in Rushden, Northamptonshire.
Give him a ring if you would like yours done, he’s a great guy and very helpful

I also replaced the camera on my 2006 with an aftermarket camera. Quite a simple job to be honest you can just cut the cable going to the old camera and solder the wires to a new camera. It's no more complex than that. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

The later 2010-2012 cameras are different and very difficult to source

The camera on my 2011 is exactly the same as my 2006 was, so not sure where that is from.

You can still splice the cable with an alternate camera. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Mine packed up. I managed to source one from a 2011 that was being broken for spares. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

The Camera is not the same, if you go on line and look at replacement cameras they are only suitable for up to 2009 model year, it may look the same but it’s a different operating system so the camera need to be a different specification. Your 2006 camera will probably fit but it will not work 👍👍

That's not what I'm saying.

You can splice into the cable to the camera and wire in an aftermarket camera. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I’m not saying you can’t do that but try finding an aftermarket camera that’s compatible with the 2010 to 2012 system that’s where the problems start 👍
